Ruling on buyer selling the land before the title deed has been issued
Dear Brothers & Sisters,As-Salaamu-Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
I bought a piece of land and received a receipt from the seller, until the title deed for the land was issued to me. Is it permissible for me to sell it before the title deed is issued? Or does that come under the heading of selling something that one does not possess?.
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.
If the transaction between you has been completed then it is permissible for you to dispose of it, even if the issuing of the title deed is delayed. And Allaah is the source of strength. End quote.
