Wadi wudu

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

i am a 20 year old girl. i know wadi nulifies ablution.but i do not feel it when it comes out.for this matter i do ablution 5 times a day for each nimaz.also i clean wadi with water and use my fingers to make sure no residue is left and this is time consuming.all this is getting on my nerves and i am fed up.the extent is so much that i am thinking of not to continue prayering as there are alot of rules with are actually very frustrating.

Now i want to know the answers of a few questions:

Q1) do i have to check that whether my previous ablution is still valid or not by checking if wadi has come out?if,yes how?because again touching the genitals directly invalidates ablution.
Q2) is cleaning wadi with water alone enough or do i have to use fingers also to make sure no residue is left.

I would be really thankful to you if you solve my query otherwise because if what i am thinking is right then i will stop offering nimaz as there as many strict rules to be followed.and please reply soon.

Answer:

Wadi wudu

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 1.10

Wadi is a thick white secretion discharged (by some people) after urination. It is considered impure. Aishah said, " Wadi comes out after urination. The person should wash the private parts and perform ablution. It is not necessary to perform ghusl. This is related by Ibn al-Mundhir. Ibn 'Abbas related that "mani” (ejaculation or full sexual discharge) requires ghusl. As for “madhi” (prostatic fluid or initial sexual discharge) and ‘wadi’ they require ‘wudu’ for purification." This is related by al-Athram. Al-Baihaqi has it with the wording, "Concerning ‘madhi’ and ‘wadi’, he said, 'Wash your sexual organs and perform the same type of ablution as you perform for prayer."'

Other than urine, there are basically three types of discharges that are released from one’s private organs:

  1. Wadi (a thick white secretion)
  2. Madhi (a sort of slow release of lubricant just prior to a full sexual discharge)
  3. Mani (a full sexual discharge)

If only ‘Wadi’ or ‘Madhi’ is released, one does not require a ‘ghusl’ or full bath to purify oneself; one must wash their private parts and the part of their clothes or body where the ‘wadi’ or ‘madhi’ has touched, do the ‘wudu’, and one would be eligible to make themselves available for prayer.

Q-1) do i have to check that whether my previous ablution is still valid or not by checking if wadi has come out?

Respected sister, you need not constantly suspect or check if ‘wadi’ has been released, for Islam guides its followers to act on convictions rather than suspicions. Only if you are certain that ‘wadi’ might have been released, you should take corrective action and re-establish your ‘wudu’ before you make yourself available for prayer.

Q-2) is cleaning wadi with water alone enough or do i have to use fingers also to make sure no residue is left.

Water by itself is a great cleansing agent, and if you do not wish to use your hands and just pour/spray enough water over your private parts and or your clothes where ‘wadi’ might have touched, that should suffice.

Your Statement: ….i would be really thankful to you if you solve my query otherwise because if what i am thinking is right then i will stop offering nimaz as there as many strict rules to be followed.and please reply soon.

Respected sister in Islam, it is the Shaytaan who whispers these thoughts of constant suspicion in your heart regarding your state of purification, so that he may keep you away from worshipping your Lord Most Exalted!

Rest assured sister, that the Shaytaan will try everything in his power to keep the believers away from obeying/worshipping their Lord Most Gracious…..but this is a battle every believer must strive their utmost to win and never never ever let the Shaytaan be successful in his evil endeavor and mission!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verse 6:

6 Verily the Shaytaan is an enemy to you: so treat him as an enemy. He only invites his adherents that they may become companions of the Blazing Fire.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verses 12-18:

12 (Allah) said: "what prevented thee (O Iblees) from bowing down (to Adam (a.s.)) when I commanded thee?" He (Iblees) said: "I am better than he: Thou didst create me from fire and him from clay."

13 (Allah) said: "Get thee down from this: it is not for thee to be arrogant here: get out for thou art of the meanest (of creatures)."

14 He (Iblees) said: "give me respite till the Day they are raised up."

15 (Allah) said: "be thou among those who have respite."

16 He said: "because Thou hast thrown me out of the way, lo! I will lie in wait for them (mankind) on Thy Straight Way.

17 Then will I assault them from before them, and behind them, from their right, and their left: nor wilt Thou find in most of them gratitude (for Thy Favors).

18 (Allah) said: "Get out from this disgraced and expelled. If any of them follow thee, Hell will I fill with you all!”

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 15 Surah Hijr verses 39-43:

39 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! because Thou hast put me in the wrong I will make (wrong) fair-seeming to them on the earth and I will (strive to) put them all in the wrong,

40 Except Thy servants among them sincere and purified (by Thy Grace)."

41 (Allah) said: "This (Way of My sincere servants) is indeed a Way that leads straight to Me.

42 For over My servants no authority shalt thou have except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee."

43 And verily Hell is the promised abode for them all!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 14 Surah Ibraheem verse 22:

22 And the Shaytaan will say when the matter (on the Day) is decided : "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you, but ye listened to me: then reproach not me but reproach your own souls! I cannot listen to your cries nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrongdoers there must be a Grievous Penalty."

Respected sister, whatever you do, do not let your Shaytaan keep you away from obeying/worshipping your Lord Most Gracious…..for if you do fall into this trap of the Shaytaan, you would have none to blame but yourself in the Court of your Lord Most Majestic.

Respected sister, if ever the Shaytaan is successful in creeping doubts and suspicions to your heart, or if ever you fear that your Shaytaan is trying to keep you away from obeying/worshipping your Lord Most Gracious, immediately turn to Allah Subhanah and seek refuge in Him from the accursed Shaytaan…..it is expected that your Lord Most Merciful will protect you from the evil mischief of the Shaytaan.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 16 Surah Nahl verse 98-100:

98 When thou dost read the Qur'an seek Allah's protection from Shaytaan, the rejected one.

99 No authority has he over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.

100 His authority is over those only who take him as patron and who join partners with Allah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
