Who corrects imam mistake.

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamoalaikum Sheikh

I have a concern please do not put my name on the internet reply to my above E-mail

On the 29th Taraweeh Salaat,9th October,2007October2007 Ramadhaan 1428,MasjidHaraam,in the 29th Juz in Sura AL HAAQQAH, the Imaam Sheikh Mahir Al Muayqili forgot and did not read the last Ruku of the Sura above. I respect all Qur`aanic readers as I am also a HAAFIZ OF THE GLORIOUS QUR"AAN.

My question is who corrects the mistakes made by the Imaam leading the Taraweeh Salaat

Answer:

Who corrects imam mistake

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The ‘Imaams’ who recite the Glorious Quran during the ‘tarawih’ and ‘qiyaam ul-layl’ at the Masjid-e-Haraam in Makkah in Ramadan are but humans; and it is possible for them like all human beings to err or forget. It is a customary practice, especially at the two holy mosques, that a number of memorizers of the Glorious Quran, including the other resident ‘Imaams’ like Shaikh Abdur-Rahmaan As-Sudais, Shaikh Saud As-Shraym, etc. stand right behind the reciting ‘Imaam’ and if the ‘Imaam’ were to unintentionally make an error during his recitation, they would correct him.

Respected brother, it is highly unlikely that an ‘Imaam’ reciting at the Sacred Mosque would forget a whole ‘ruku’ of a Surah and none of the other eminent memorizers of the Quran standing behind him corrected his unintentional error; but if as you say it did indeed happen, then Allah is without a doubt, the Merciful, Most Forgiving.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
