Answer:

Missed rakah in congregation

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

If one happens to join a prayer congregation late and misses a part of his/her prayer, when the ‘imam’ leading the prayer initiates or starts the declaration of the ‘tasleems’ to signal the end of prayer, it is permissible in Shariah for the person who missed a part of the prayer to stand up and complete his prayer.

If one sits till the ‘imam’ has declared one or both ‘tasleems’ before the person stands and completes his prayer, that too is acceptable and permissible; but it would not be permissible for a believer praying in congregation to stand up and complete his prayer before the ‘imam’ has initiated or started his declarations of ‘tasleems’.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
