that why do we do this, she has told me that, back home everybody did or does
this, her peers did it and it sort of has carried on as a chain reaction.
Today Bro` i would like to ask you is it ok for us to
praya khatam on thursdays` every week and reading the khatam
by tufail hazrat mohammed-e-mustapha {pbut} and
124.000 prophets {pbut} who came beofre
th seal of the proephets.

Answer:
Khatam Quran
In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Dear and
Beloved brother in Islam, it is the solemn belief of every true believer who
sincerely fears Allah and the Last Day, that there was, is, or never will be
anyone in the annuls of creation who feared Allah more, or who knew what
exactly is pleasing or displeasing to Allah, or who worshipped Allah Subhanah more or better than the Noble Last and Final
Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah
(saws)! Thus it is absolutely imperative
and obligatory that in each and every aspect of the deen
without exception, the believers who sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day,
must unconditionally obey and follow the example and what is endorsed by the
Prophet of Allah (saws) and no one else, for that is exactly what the Lord Most
High has commanded His believing slaves in His Glorious Quran:
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah
Ahzab verse 21: There is indeed the best
example for you to follow in the Messenger of Allah, for every such
person looks forward to Allah and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.
Thus if
anyone dares to come up with any act of worship like the Khatm,
or a celebration, or a commemoration, or prescribes importance to any prayer,
or fast, or recitation, or night or day, or invents, innovates, or adds
anything in the deen of Islam which is not
specifically endorsed by the Noble Prophet (saws), then it implies one
of three things:
that
the person who claims that worship is due on this specific way on this specific
day or night loves and worships Allah more than the Noble Prophet (saws)!!!
or,
that the person knows more than the Noble Prophet (saws)!!!
or,
that the person has received revelations from Allah Subhanah
after the death of the Prophet Mohamed (saws)!!!
Allah is
our witness brother, if anyone in the annuls of creation ever claims to have
any of the above three qualities is nothing more than a confirmed and manifest
liar!; for Allah is our witness, no man in the annuls of creation loved or
worshipped their Lord more than Prophet Mohamed (saws), no man in the annuls of
creation had more knowledge of the Truth than the Noble Prophet Mohamed (saws),
and Allah is our witness, the Last and Final Revelations of The Lord Most
Majestic were revealed on Prophet Mohamed (saws), and there is none who will or
can receive revelations after him (saws)!
As good,
and meritorious, and rewarding, and pleasing to Allah as the recitation of His
Glorious Quran may be; if without the endorsement of the Noble Prophet (saws),
one declares from himself without right, that the gathering of people and
reciting the Quran on any specific day or night, or providing food at the
completion of the recitation in a specific way, or on a specific day or night,
or to do any deed in the deen and expect it to earn
the Pleasure and Good Will of Allah when Allah and His Messenger (saws) have
not endorsed it, would be deemed an abominable innovation or ‘bida’ in the deen of Islam.
A bida or innovation is something which is invented,
innovated, and added to the deen of Islam after the deen was completed on Prophet Mohamed (saws). It especially
concerns the rites and rituals of worship,
or any deed or act which was neither performed nor endorsed by the
Messenger of Allah (saws), but was added
as a part of the deen after his (saws’s)
death. It also concerns any innovated
deed which one does and believes that by doing this innovated deed, he is
eligible to earn more reward from Allah Subhanah.
Sahih Muslim Hadith 1885 Narrated by Jabir
ibn Abdullah
That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said in a sermon: “The best speech is that which is embodied in
the Book of Allah, the Al Quran; and the
best guidance is the guidance given by me, Mohamed (saws). The most evil affairs are the
innovations (bida), and every innovation (bida) is an error.”
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 4515 Narrated
by Ali ibn AbuTalib
That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said: “If anyone introduces an
innovation (bida in religion), he will be responsible for it. If anyone introduces an innovation (bida) or gives shelter to a man who introduces an
innovation (bida), he is cursed by Allah, by His Angels, and by all the people!”
Your Statement: on thusdays` there is a tradition of doing khatam.
Now, we are residing in Engand and on every thursday my respected ammi hazoor prepares food etc and
me and my brother pray khatam and then eat.
Dear and Beloved Brother in Islam, there is absolutely no evidence in the Quran
or the established and authentic Sunnah that the
Messenger of Allah (saws) gathered his family or the believers on Thursdays (or
any other day or night), recited the Quran as is recited for the ‘khatam’, or propagated the eating or distributing of food
after the supposed ‘khatam’, etc.
If one
does these things assuming or believing that they are a part of the deen, or that such acts are Pleasing to Allah, or that such
acts would earn them rewards from Allah, or that such acts are meritorious in
any way when the Messenger of Allah (saws) has neither practiced nor endorsed
them, then it would indeed be an absolutely wrong assumption and belief! To
make this rite or ritual a part of the deen would be
an innovation, and as the Messenger of Allah (saws) clearly declared: every
innovation in the deen is an error.
Your Question: Bro` I asked my ammi hazoor that why do we do
this, she has told me that, back home everybody did or does this, her peers did
it and it sort of has carried on as a chain reaction.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 5 Surah Al Maidah verse 3: Today I
(Allah) have perfected your deen for you and
completed my Blessing on you and approved Islam as your way of life.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah
Ale-Imran verse 85: And whoever adopts any other than
this way of Islam, that way shall not be accepted from him and in the Hereafter, he shall be among the losers.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah
Ale-Imran verse 19: Indeed, Islam in the ONLY right
way of life in the sight of Allah.
My
beloved brother, ‘Al-Islam’ is the name that ‘deen’
or ‘way of life’ which has been approved by Allah Subhanah
for His slaves, and this ‘deen’ and ‘way of life’ is
not based on the whims and fancies of what is done ‘back home’, or what was
done by one’s forefathers, etc.; but this ‘deen’ of
Truth is based on the Absolute Perfect Knowledge and Wisdom of Allah Subhanah, the Lord of the Worlds!
The main
reason the ‘deens’ before us got corrupted is because
the people in their ignorance, instead of unconditionally obeying and following
and thus submitting to what Allah and His Prophets commanded, insisted on
following what was practiced by their forefathers!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 31 Surah Luqman verse 21: And when it is said to them, “Follow what
Allah has sent down”, they say, “We
shall only follow that upon which we found our forefathers.” What!
Will they still be following them even if Shaitaan
had been calling them to the raging Fire?
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 43 Surah
Zukhruf verse 22-25: Nay! But they say, “We found our forefathers on a
way and we are only walking in their footsteps.” Even so, whenever before you We sent a warner to a habitation,
its people of means said, “We have found our forefathers on a way and we
are only following in their footsteps.”
Every Prophet asked them, “Will you still go on following the same old
way even if I guide you to a more right way than that you found your
forefathers following?” They replied,
“We disbelieve the religion with which you have been sent.” Consequently, We took vengeance on them. Just consider what was the
end of those who denied.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah
Baqarah verse 170-171: When it is said to them,
“Follow the Commands that Allah has sent down”, they reply, “We will follow only what
we found our forefathers practising.” Well, will they go on following their
forefathers even though they did not use common sense and did not find the
Your Question: Today Bro` i would like to ask you is it ok for us to praya khatam on thursdays` every week and reading the khatam
by tufail hazrat mohammed-e-mustapha {pbut} and
124.000 prophets {pbut} who came beofre

Beloved brother, one may recite, learn, and understand the Glorious Quran as
much as one wills or is easy for him; but to make it a ritual to gather people
on a specific day or night, or to collectively make it a must to complete the
recitation of the Quran (khatm), or to make it a rite
to conclude this ‘khatm’ by providing a specific type
of food only to commemorate the ‘khatm’, or make any
deed, or rite, or ritual a part of the deen when
Allah and His Messenger (saws) have not endorsed it, it would be considered an
innovation in the deen of Islam, and every innovation
in the perfect ‘deen’ of Islam that was revealed on
Prophet Mohamed (saws) is an error.
If one
sincerely wishes to do something good, he should unconditionally submit, obey
and follow what has been commanded by Allah Subhanah
in His Glorious Quran, and what guidance one has received from the authentic
and established Sunnah of the Prophet (saws). And the
best ‘gift’ a believer can present to his beloved Prophet (saws) is to increase
one’s salutations to him (saws) as commanded and guided by none other than the
Lord Himself in His Glorious Quran:
Allah says in the Quran Chapter 33 Surah Ahzab verse 56: Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings on
the Prophet (Mohamed (saws)). O you who
believe, you
should also (ask Allah to) send blessings on him; and salute him with all respect.
Al-Muwatta Hadith Hadith 9.70
Yahya related that Abu Masud
al Ansari said, "The Messenger of Allah (saws), came to us at the gathering of Sad ibn
Ubada. Bashir ibn Sad said to him,
'Allah has ordered us to ask for blessings on you, O Messenger of Allah
(saws). How should we do it?' The Messenger of Allah (saws), remained silent until we wished we had not asked
him. Then he told us to say, 'O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad as
You blessed Ibrahim,
and give baraka to Muhammad and the family of
Muhammad, as You gave baraka to the family of Ibrahim. In all the worlds You
are worthy of Praise and Glorious,' and then give the taslim
as you have learnt."
(Allahumma salli
ala Muhammad wa ali
Muhammad kama sallaita Ibrahim, wa baraka
ala Muhammad wa ali
Muhammad kama baraktaala ali Ibrahim. Fi'l
alamin, innaka Hamidu'm - Majid.)
Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As reported
that he heard the Prophet (saws), saying, "If anyone invokes blessings
upon me once, Allah will bestow blessings upon him ten times over."
(Related by Muslim)
Ibn Mas'ud reported
that the Prophet (saws), said, "The people nearest to me on the
Day of Judgment will be the ones most conscientious in invoking blessings upon
me." (Related by Tirmidhi).
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet
(saws), said, "Do not turn my grave into a site of festivities, but send greetings
to me for your greetings are raised to me wherever you might be."
(Reported by Abu Daw'ud)
Aus reported that the Prophet (saws), said,
"The best of your days is Friday, so send more and more greetings
to me on it, for your greetings are presented to me." (Related by Abu Daw'ud
and Nasa'i)
Ahmad recorded that Abu Talha Al Ansari said, "The Prophet (saws), woke up one day cheerful and
beaming. His companions exclaimed, 'O Prophet of Allah
(saws), you woke up today cheerful and beaming!' He (saws) replied, 'Yes! A Messenger (Hadrat Jibrael a.s.) of Allah, the Mighty and the Glorified, came to me
and said, "If anyone from your Ummah sends you a salutation, Allah will record for him ten good
deeds, wipe off ten of his sins, and raise him thereby ten degrees in rank, and He (Allah) will return his salutation
with a similar salutation".'
(Related by Ahmad)
Abu Hurairah reported that the Prophet
(saws) said, "When any Muslim sends greetings to me, Allah returns my soul
to me so that I may respond to his greetings." (Reported by Abu Dawud)
In a report related by Abu Dharr, he
said, "the
Prophet (saws) said, 'The most miserly among people is the one who fails to
invoke blessings upon me, when my name
is mentioned in his or her presence'."
If one
trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of
Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can
be assured of never ever being misled;
but if one believes, obeys and
follows any other guidance, other than
that of Allah and His Messenger (saws),
one can be assured of being led astray.
Whatever
written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance,
and whatever of error is of me alone.
Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
