Child to pierce ear

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

salaam,

I HEARD THAT IF A WOMAN KEEPS LOOSING HER CHILDREN EVERYTIME SHE GIVES BIRTH AND SHE HAS ONLY ONE OR TWO SONS BUT AFTER THOSE TWO SONS SHE KEEP LOOSING HER BABIES WHEN SHE GIVES BIRTH, HOWEVER IS IT TRUE THAT HER SONS CAN PIERCE THEIR EAR JUST LIKE A WOMEN?

I MEAN ONE SIDE OF THE EAR

Answer:

Child to pierce ear

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Piercing of the ear and wearing ornaments as adornments is normally associated with and is specific to the nature of women, and the Messenger of Allah (saws) has strictly forbidden a believing man imitating a woman, or a believing woman imitating the man.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.820 Narrated by Ibn Abbas

The Messenger of Allah (saws) invoked the curse of Allah on men who imitate women, and those women who assume the similitude of men.

Thus, even in its essence, the piercing of the ear of the boy would be deemed forbidden and impermissible in Islam.

But if one believes that the piercing of the ear of the boy would save the other off-spring from harm, or the piercing of the ear of the boy would avert any Decree of Allah Subhanah; then it would take on a complete new and devious dimension and would be a clear manifestation of the abomination and the most heinous of sins, ‘shirk’!!!

Dear and Beloved Sister, it is the ardent and absolute belief of the believers that if Allah wishes to bestow His Mercy upon someone, none in the Universe can withhold it; and if Allah Subhanah Wills to withhold His Grace from someone as a trial, none in the Universe can grant it except Him and Him Alone!

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verse 2: What Allah out of His Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none who can withhold: what He doth withhold there is none who can grant it apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power, Full of Wisdom.

Thus if one even believes, leave alone does, something like pierce the ear of a boy only because he/she wishes to avert the Decree or Trial of Allah Subhanah; then that sort of belief would tantamount to the abomination and gravest of sins, that is, ‘shirk’! The believers should keep their full and absolute trust in the Power of Allah Subhanah Alone, for none has any power or strength except Him Alone.

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), he can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), he can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
