Answer:

Confusion of obligatory duties

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Beloved brother, we sincerely apologize if our answer regarding the obligatory duties of a believer caused you any confusion. The list that you have quoted as obligatory duties are what the Messenger of Allah (saws) called the ‘five pillars’ of Islam. These acts are absolutely obligatory ‘fard’ on every person who claims to be a believer.

There are many other acts which Allah and His Messenger (saws) have made obligatory on the believers like obedience of parents, providing for the immediate family, speaking the truth, abstaining from illegal sex, etc. We were just trying to list and differentiate some of the obligatory ‘fard’ acts from the voluntary ‘Sunnah’ acts like keeping a beard, praying tahajjud prayers at night, applying perfume, etc.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
