Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother Burhan, Assalam o alaikum wa rahmatullah wa barakatahu. May Allah reward you in plenty for your good work.

My question is a bit long, please bear with me.

I recite the following wazifah after the respective prayers. I would like to know if what I do is authenticated by Sunnah or is there some bida`a involved here.
Fajr:
* 10 x Allahumma Ajirni Menan Naar
* 10 x La Ilaha Illallahu Wadahu La shareeka lahu lahul Mulko walahul Hamdo beyadehi khaire yuhyi wa yomeeto wa hova ala kulle shayin Qadeer.
* 33 x Subhan Allah, 33 x Alhamdo Lillah, 33 Times Allaho Akbar + 1 x La Ilaha Illallahu Wadahu La shareeka lahu lahul Mulko walahul Hamdo wa hova ala kulle shayin Qadeer
* Ayet Al Kursi
* 3 x The four "Quls"
* 7 x Hasbe Allaho La Ilaha Illahova Aliyul Azeem
* 3 x Auzobillahis Sameeal Menash Shaitanir Rajeem + the Three verses, "Hovallahu La ilaha Illahu Aalemul Ghaibo wash Shahadato hovar Rahmanur Raheem......wahoval Azeezul Hakee" appearing in Juz 28.
* 100 x Subhan Allahe Wa BeHamdehi
* 100 x As Sabooro
* 133 x Al Lateefo
* 3 x Bimillahil Lazi La Yazurro ma`a isme shayin....
* 3 x Allahumma Aafini fi badani Allahumma Aafini fi sam`ee Allahumma Aafini fi basari
* 3 x Razeeto Billahe Rabban, wa bil Islame deenan, wa be Muhummado nabiyan
Zohr, Asr and Isha:

Maghrib:

These were mostly taken from a book handed over by my elders. The book is called "Hisne Haseen". At the same time would you also tell me you have read this book and if its contents are authentic.

Tasbi after Prayers

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verses 190-191:

190 Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth. and the alternation of night and day, there are indeed Signs for men of understanding.

191 Men who celebrate the praises of Allah; standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and contemplate the (wonders of) creation in the heavens and the earth (with the thought): "Our Lord! not for naught hast thou created (all) this! Glory to thee! give us salvation from the penalty of the fire.”

Beloved Brother in Islam, almost all the phrases of Praises and Glorifications of Allah Subhanah, and the various supplications quoted by you are indeed good and from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws). One cannot Glorify and Praise Allah Subhanah enough, and these terms of Glorification of Allah can be recited as many times, and whenever one wishes to do so.

But unless Allah and His Messenger (saws) have specified the number and the place where they have to be recited, no person has a right to specify the number of times each glorification is recited nor specify the specific time when it has to be recited.

Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 1499 Narrated by AbuHurayrah

AbuDharr said: “O Prophet of Allah, the wealthy people have all the rewards; they pray as we pray; they fast as we fast; and they have surplus wealth which they give in charity; but we have no wealth which we may give in charity.” The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “O AbuDharr, should I not teach you phrases by which you acquire the rank of those who excel you? No one can acquire your rank except one who acts like you.” He (AbuDharr) said: “Why not, O Messenger of Allah (saws)?” The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: “Exalt Allah (say: Allah is Most Great) after each prayer thirty-three times; and Praise Him (say: Praise be to Allah) thirty-three times; and Glorify Him (say: Glory be to Allah) thirty-three times, and end it by saying, "There is no god but Allah alone, there is no partner, to Him belongs the Kingdom, to Him praise is due and He has power over everything". His sins will be forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the sea.”

Exalting Allah (Allah-o-Akbar), Praising Allah (Alhamdolillaah), and Glorifying Allah (Subhan Allah) thirty three times after each prayer and saying "There is no god but Allah alone, there is no partner, to Him belongs the Kingdom, to Him praise is due and He has power over everything" once, is the preferred Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).

Other than the above glorification, most of the phrases of glorifications and supplications quoted were not specifically recited by the Messenger of Allah (saws) after each prayer, nor did he (saws) advise the believers to do so. One may recite it all day if one wishes to do so, but the believers should not from themselves specify the place, time, and number of these glorifications and supplications.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
