Recite surahs in prayers

One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Assalamalaikum wa ramatullah
In the namaaz, do we have to recite two consecutive Suras from the Quraan , in
the two successive rakaats.

Answer:
Recite surahs in
prayers
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
There is
absolutely no condition in light of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws)
that one has to recite consecutive Surahs in consecutive raakahs in the
salaah; although it is absolutely
permissible to do so. One may recite
any combination of Surahs and Aayahs, preferably in the order it has been
gathered in the Holy Quran.
For
example, one may recite Aayahs 1-3 of
Surah 2 (Baqarah) in the first Rakah,
and then recite Aayahs 22-26 of Surah 7 (Aaraaf) in the second; or one may recite Aayahs 10-12 of Surah 12
(Yusuf) in the first rakah, and the full 114th Surah (An-Naas) in
the second rakah; or one may recite 110th
Surah (Nasr) in the first and the 113th Surah (Falaq) in the
second.
One may
recite any combination of Aayahs/Aayahs,
or Aayahs/Surah, or Surah/Surah from the Holy Quran, preferably in the order it has been
collected in the Quran.
