What does the Imam read on Friday Khutbah?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet,  no imam,  no dai,  nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 62 Surah Jumuah verse 9:O you who have believed!  When the call is made to the Prayer on Friday, hasten to the remembrance of Allah and leave off your trading.   This is better for you, only if you know.

On the Friday Khutba, the Imam should first Glorify and Praise Allah as He deserves to be Praised; send salutations and salaams to the Last Messenger of Allah (saws); and then do ‘dhikr’ or remembrance of Allah, and preach to the believers about some of the commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws).

Depending on where you are located and in what language the ‘khutba’ is delivered, this was the procedure and practice of the Messenger of Allah (saws) and the believers who carried on his tradition after his death.   In the countries where the sermon is delivered in the local language, the Praise and Glorification of Allah and the salutations of the Prophet (saws) are the things that are said by the preacher in Arabic… and the rest of the sermon is given in the local language.
