Takbeer in Dhul Hijjah

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I would like to know the following whether it is right, which is forwarded to me by friend: Takbeer (on Eid Al Adha, the Takbeer begins on the first day of Dhul Hijjah and lasts until sunset on the last of the days of tashreeq). Brother, kindly let me know the Takbeer should be started from the first day for Dhul Hijjah or before the Eid Selah?

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Takbeer in Dhul Hijjah

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The five days of the Month of Dhul-Hijjah starting from 9th up to 13th are called Ayyam Al-Tashreeq. So Takbeer-e-Tashreeq begins from the ‘Fajr’ prayer of the 9th Dhul Hijjah, and shall be continued up to the 'Asr’ prayer of the 13th Dhul Hijjah. Takbeer should be recited immediately after every Fardh prayer, male Muslims should recite it loudly voice, while females in a low voice, whether performing Selah with Jama'ah, collectively or individually.

Note: For women, it is commendable though not obligatory.

Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La Ilaha Illallahu, Wallahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar wa lillahilhamd.

(There is no god but Allah and Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest and to Allah belongs all praise.)

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is only ones. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
