Cheating the system

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamu alikum, I live in UK. People who breakes a law while driving a car, they get point to their licence which is bad for their licence. Now if I give my licence card to someone who has got point in his licence so that he can save his driving licence from getting point and give me some money for that, Is this money Halal for me? thanks.

Answer:

Cheating the system

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The scholars and the jurists are absolutely unanimous in their opinion that the traffic laws made by any nation (believing or disbelieving) are for the safety of their citizens; and as such it would be the Islamic duty of the believers who happen to live/visit that nation to scrupulously obey these laws.

If one breaks such good laws which are made for the protection and the good of the citizens, or one conspires to cheat the system to break such good laws, without an iota of a doubt, it would constitute a sin against them in the Sight of Allah Subhanah!

Leave alone accepting some money or reward to allow another to cheat the system, even if you did it for free, it would constitute a sin against you in the Sight of your Lord!

If you did accept some money or reward to conspire with another to break or cheat a system which is made for the good and the protection of the citizens, that earning would be absolutely unlawful for you in the Sight of Shariah Law and in the Sight of Allah Subhanah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
