One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear Brother Burhan,

Assalamalaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu.

My question is that: being a muslim we are suppose to repeat the Ahaan after moudhin except at hayya as salah and hayya alfalah. what do we say in the fajar adhaan after moudhin say "as salaatu khairum minnan noum". do we need to repeat the same words or do we need to say something else. please advise me.

Answer:

Repeat fajr adhan with muaddhin

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: ….what do we say in the fajar adhaan after moudhin say "as salaatu khairum minnan noum". do we need to repeat the same words or do we need to say something else.

To the best of our knowledge, we have not come across anything in the authentic Sunnah stating what exactly to say when the ‘muaddhin’ declares ‘as salaatu khairun minan noum’ in the fajr adhaan.

Some scholars are of the opinion that one may remain silent when this phrase is declared, while others say that one should merely repeat the same…..but we reiterate again, that we have not come across any authentic hadith in the Sunnah which declares what exactly to say when this phrase is announced during the ‘fajr’ adhaan. And Allah Alone Knows Best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
