Is it lawful to marry neice
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Respected
intellectuals,
Assalamalaiykum,
With
reference to my question, "Is
it possible to marry with a girl who is the niece of the groom by
relation." let me clear out the relation.
Bride is the grand daughter of sister
of groom's mother, hence the groom is the uncle of bride. and the groom wanted
to marry with the girl. now clearify it.
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from

Answer:
Is it lawful to
marry niece
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Although one’s mother’s sister is considered a ‘mehram’
relationship in Shariah, one’s mother’s sister’s daughters or grand-daughters
are not ‘mehram’ and thus it would be lawful for one to seek to marry one’s
mother’s sister’s daughters or grand-daughters if one wished to do so.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
