Dear Sheikh Buhran

I have few questions related Haj and Umra as follows and I hope you may try to answer them. Thank you

3rd Question

As I know we should not say "Ya Mohammed S.W." (Peace be upon him) as it seeking help from him but it is engrave on the fences fixed on Prophet's (Peace be upon him) grave.

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Ya Mohamed written in medina

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Even when the Messenger of Allah (saws) was alive, there is absolutely no record that any amongst the believers addressed their Noble Prophet and Leader as ‘Ya Mohamed’ for that would be considered disrespectful to say the least. When the believers wished to address the Prophet (saws) during his lifetime, they would address him as ‘Ya Rasool Allah (saws)’ or ‘Ya Nabi Allah (saws)’….but never as ‘Ya Mohamed (saws)’!

It is only the disbelievers who did not believe in the appointment of Prophet Mohamed (saws) as the Last and Final Messenger of Allah (saws) who would address him as ‘Ya Mohamed’.

If indeed the terms ‘Ya Mohamed (saws) is inscribed on the fences (or anywhere else) of the house which houses the blessed grave of the Prophet (saws) in Madinah, it is indeed wrong and inappropriate.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
