Ra or as radhi allah an or alayhis salaam.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Should
we add (Alaihi salam)after the name of Imam Hussain and Imam Hassan and also
with Imam Ali(r.a).I have seen many people write (A.S).
(There may be some grammatical and spelling
errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from
questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in

Answer:
Ra or as radhi allah
an or alayhis salaam
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
As far as the actually and literal meaning of the term
‘Alayhis Salaam’ (upon him be peace) is concerned, it is the exact same as the
Islamic greeting of ‘Salaam Alaykum’ (upon you be peace) which the believers
are guided to greet one another. Thus if
one wishes to say ‘Alayhis Salaam’ upon one of the noble companions of the
Messenger of Allah (saws), there is absolutely no harm in its meaning.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 37 Surah
Saafaat verse 79:
79 Salaams to Nuh among the nations.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 37 Surah
Saafaat verse 120:
120 Salaams to Musa and Haaron.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 37 Surah
Saafaat verse 130:
130 Salaams to such as Elias.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah
Maryam verse 15:
15 So Salaam on him (Prophet Yayha (a.s.)) the day he was born, the day
that he dies, and the day that he will be raised up to life (again).
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah
Maryam verse 33:
33 So Salaams is on me (Prophet Isa ibn Maryam (a.s.)) the day I was born, the day that I die, and
the Day that I shall be raised up to life (again).
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 27 Surah
Naml verse 59:
59 Say: “Praise be to Allah and Salaam on His servants whom He has
chosen (for his Message).”
Because time and time again the Lord Most Gracious has
Declared ‘Salaams’ unto His Prophets in His Glorious Quran, the etiquette
adopted by the believers is that when the name of a Prophet of Allah is
mentioned in their midst they generally say ‘Alayhis Salaam’; and when the name
of one of the noble companions of the Last and Final Messenger (saws) is
mentioned, they suppicate ‘Radhe-Allaho Ann’ (May Allah be Pleased with
them).
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
