Parents right on childrens earnings.
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Dear
burhanbhai,
I hold
you with great respect. But I am voicing my disagreement on your reply for the
following :
By
saying that the earnings of a son belongs to his parents you are opening the
way for many wrongdoings which parents generally do. This is neither logical
and not right . Many a parents have a tendency to milk the child who is earning
the most and spend it on the other children who are not well off. May be they
are doing out of good will but this cannot be justified. This might be
justified in a family business where the eldest takes over the family business
founded by their father. But not in cases wherein the eldest becomes well
off by his own efforts and his brothers/ sisters want to enjoy it without
working for it.
I have
seen many a families in which the eldest son works hard, becomes rich and
parents emotionally blackmail him and make him spend on his sisters and
brothers who are lazy, don't want to work but want to have unlimited fun. And
you are encouraging this.

Answer:
Parents right on
childrens earnings
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Your Statement:
….I hold you with great respect. But I am voicing my disagreement on your reply
for the following :
Dear and respected brother in Islam, our one and only
intention on this humble forum of ours is to convey the Truth of the Glorious
Quran and the authentic and established Sunnah to all who are willing to listen
to good caution. If, Allah forbid
brother, we have in our ignorance, written or said anything which is against
the guidance of the Glorious Quran and the Sunnah, we would really appreciate
that our brothers and sisters in faith would bring that to our immediate
attention so that we may not only correct our error/s, but seek the forgiveness
of our brethren to whom the message might have been sent…and above all seek the
forgiveness our Lord Most Gracious, Most Merciful for our error and our
shortcoming.
Thus my respected brother in Islam, never never ever
hesitate or apologize to disagree with whatever we might have said or written
on the forum, especially if you find that what we have written is against the
guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah…..for we are but amongst the human slaves
of the Lord Most Majestic, and as humans, we are all, most certainly, prone to
error.
Your
Question: By saying that the earnings of a son belongs to his parents you are
opening the way for many wrongdoings which parents generally do.
Respected brother in Islam, we absolutely assure you that it
is not I or we at the forum who say that the earnings of the son belong to his
parents…..and Allah is our witness brother, we have absolutely no right nor any
authority to enact this or any other law!
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 3523 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As
A man came to the Prophet (saws) and said: ‘O
Messenger of Allah (saws), I have property and children, and my father finishes
(or uses) my property.’ He (saws) replied: ‘You and your property (both)
belong to your father! Your
children come from the pleasantest of what you earn; so enjoy from the earning
of your children.’
We absolutely assure you brother that this Law of the Lord
was declared in Truth by the one who was sent with the Truth, the Last and
Final Messenger of Allah, Mohamed ar-Rasool Allah (saws)! And Allah is our witness brother, the
Messenger of Allah (saws) spoke naught of his own desire, but he (saws)
declared in Truth whatever he (saws) received by inspiration from his Lord….and
in every single Word, in every single Law, in every single Command, and in
every single Guidance of Allah and His Messenger (saws) have we professed
unconditional belief and trust.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah
Ahzab verse 21:
There is indeed the best example for you
to follow in the Messenger of Allah, for every such person looks forward to Allah
and the Last Day, and remembers Allah much.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisa verse 79-80:
We have sent you (O Mohamed) as a Messenger to
mankind, and Allah’s witness suffices
for this. Whoever obeys the
Messenger, in fact obeys Allah,
and whoever turns away from him, he will be accountable for his
deeds. Anyhow, we have not sent you (O Mohamed) to be a
guardian over them.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale
Imran verse 31-32:
O Prophet,
tell the people, “If you sincerely love Allah, follow me.
Then Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, for He is All Forgiving, All Merciful.” Also say to them, “Obey Allah and His
Messenger.” And if, in spite of this, they do not accept your invitation, warn them that Allah does not love
those, who refuse to obey Him and His
Messenger.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chatper 59 Surah
Hashr verse 7:
So take what
the Messenger (saws) assigns to you and deny yourselves that which he withholds
from you. And fear Allah; for Allah is strict in
Punishment.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 53 Surah
Najm verses 1-6:
1 By the star when it goes down
2 Your companion (Mohamed (saws)) is
neither astray nor being misled
3 Nor does he say (aught) of (his own)
desire.
4 It is no less than inspiration sent down
to him.
5 He was taught by one mighty in power
6 Endued with wisdom.
Sahih Muslim Hadith 5830 (part) Narrated by Talhah ibn Ubaydullah
The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘……..
when I say to you anything on behalf of Allah, then do accept it, for I do not
attribute lie to Allah, the Exalted and Glorious.’
Your
Question: ….I have seen many a families in which the eldest son works
hard, becomes rich and parents emotionally blackmail him and make him spend on
his sisters and brothers who are lazy, don't want to work but want to have
unlimited fun. And you are encouraging this.
Respected brother in Islam, it really does not matter
whether we ‘encourage’ or ‘discourage’ what you have said…..what truly matters
is whether or not one is willing to accept the laws and the guidance declared
by Allah and His Messenger (saws) unconditionally in letter and in spirit……thus
regardless of whether one agrees with them or not, regardless of whether one
likes them or not, regardless of one has the knowledge and the wisdom to truly
comprehend the guidance or not…..if the guidance is declared by Allah and His
Messenger (saws) we are to unconditionally accept, submit, and follow it
wholeheartedly…if indeed we believe in Allah and the Last Day.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 33 Surah
Ahzaab verse 36:
It does not behove a believing man and a
believing woman that when Allah and His Messenger have given their decision in
a matter, they should exercise an
option in that matter of theirs.
For whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger, has indeed strayed into manifest error.
Respected brother, it is indeed possible that the scenario
you have mentioned might and does happen in families where there exists no fear
of Allah…….but in families where both the parents and their off-spring fear
Allah, it should be expected that such manifest abuse and mockery of the laws
of Allah would never take place. And
Allah Alone Knows Best.
If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and
commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws),
one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any
other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be
assured of being led astray.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
