If I come across such a situation, should I help my muslim brother or should I take it for myself?
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.
(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
I am a
student in
I myself am still looking for one. If I had got one and gave it to him instead
of accepting it myself, just to save him from the haraam, would God help me to
make things easier, or will He help my job hunt easier? Earlier it has been
mentioned from Verse 5 of Aayah 65, whoever is conscious of Allah, He will
certainly find a way for him. If I come across such a situation, should I help
my muslim brother or should I take it for myself?

Answer:
Reward of giving
preference to another
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Respected brother, if one prefers one’s believing brother
over and above one’s own self or needs, or one helps their believing brethren
in any way, or one strives to remove a distress or an anxiety of their
believing brethren………only for the Sake and Pleasure of Allah Subhanah….one
cannot even begin to imagine the rewards they would get in retribution for
their sacrifice and their good deeds in the Presence of their Lord Most
Gracious in the Hereafter!
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 1678 Narrated by Abu Sa'id al-Khudri
The Prophet (saws) said: ‘If any Muslim
clothes a Muslim when he is naked (in this world), Allah will clothe him with
green garments of Paradise in the Hereafter; if any Muslim feeds a Muslim when
he is hungry (in this world), Allah will feed him with some of the fruits of
Paradise in the Hereafter; and if any Muslim gives a Muslim drink when he is
thirsty (in this world), Allah will give him some of the pure wine which is
sealed to drink in the Hereafter.’
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 9.83 Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "A Muslim
is a brother of another Muslim. So he should neither oppress him nor hand him
over to an oppressor. And whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother (in
the life of this world), Allah will fulfill his needs (in this world and the
Hereafter); whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a distress (in the life
of this world), Allah will bring him out of the distress of the Day of
Resurrection; and whoever screened a Muslim (in the life of this
world), Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection."
Rest absolutely assured brother, that if you have
sacrificed your own needs and wants and preferred your believing brother above
yourself, or have done something to remove the distress or anxiety of your
believing brother in the life of this short and transitory world…..only for the
Sake and Pleasure of Allah Subhanah….rest absolutely assured brother that your
Lord All-Knowing is well aware of your noble intentions, your good deeds, and
your sacrifices which you have given for His Sake. Not only will your Lord help you in the life
of this world, but your sacrifice to help your believing brother will earn you
unimaginable rewards in the Presence of your Lord Most Gracious Most Merciful
in the Hereafter.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
