One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

i heard many types of name in Muslims but till now i couldn`t hear the name quran in Muslims..Is there any reason because we are keeping the Allah`s name & no body is bigger or greater than Allah he is the god most gracious and merciful

Keep name Quran

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The term or word ‘Quraan’ is derived from the root word ‘iqra’ which basically means to read or recite; thus the literal meaning of the term ‘Quraan’ would be something which is to be recited time and time again.

The ‘Quraan’ is the name specific to the Book of Guidance revealed by Allah Subhanah….one can associate onself with an aspect of the Glorious Book and be a ‘Qaari’ (recitor), or a ‘Haafiz’ (memorizer), or a ‘Taalib’ (sudent), or even an ‘Aalim’ (scholar) of the Glorious Quran….but to assign someone a name which is synonymous with the Glorious Quran itself would not be appropriate.
