Answer:

More reward for marrying widow

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Dear and beloved brother in Islam, although it is declared lawful and permissible in Shariah for a believer to marry an eligible widow, or a divorcee, or even a virgin as their second wife….to the best of our knowledge there is nothing in the Quran or the Sunnah which states that the marriage to a widow as a second wife is preferred or more meritorious in the Sight of Allah Subhanah than marrying any other eligible woman.

Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.1 Narrated by Umar bin Al Khattab

I heard Allah's Messenger (saws) saying, "The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for."

If one marries a woman (regardless of whether she is a widow, divorcee, or a virgin) to fulfill his lawful desires and stay away from the unlawful….indeed he will have his appropriate and due reward for his piety….and if the prime reason for one choosing to marry a widow over another woman is only so that the widow and probably her orphan children are supported and taken care of, then indeed he will have his due and appropriate reward for his act of kindness, generosity, and his noble intentions.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
