The return of Jesus Christ
Mu' meneen Brothers
and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa
Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be
upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear Burhan,
Thank you very
much for your answer. It is very clear to me - I have always agreed with this
view point.
Trinity is a Human concept. I have yet to find Trinity spelled out in either
the Old or New Testaments. Early Christians used Trinity - Mind (The Father),
Body (Christ - the Son) and Soul (the Holy Spirit) - to explain that our Minds,
Bodies and Souls must be pure so that we can enter Paradise. It was used as a
symbol to explain to the illeterate masses a concept that they could relate to.
It was never intended as the literal truth.
Jesus re-affirmed
all the Commandements revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai.
There is a wonderful story in the New Testament that illustrates this point:
Jesus wrote the 10 commandments in the sand as a crowd were about to
stone a woman accused of adultury. The crowd asked Jesus if stoning the woman
was the right course of action. Jesus replied: "Let he among you with no
sin cast the first stone".
By the way, this was the only documented instance in the New Testament where
Jesus wrote. The point Jesus made was that the commandments were not to be
followed just literally but as a way of life which involved Mind-Body and
Soul...
In another
instance he said that if we would completely follow the first 2 commandments,
we would see ourselves following all of them...
The first Commandment affirms that there is only ONE God. (Where's the
Trinity?)
The second Commandment affirms that "we must never bow to idols or
images"
There is a story where a Rich man asks "Rabbi, what must I do to enter
Paradise?". Jesus replies: "Go and sell all you belongings,
distribute your wealth to the poor and come follow me". The man goes away
in disaray. Jesus says: "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of
a needle than for a rich man to enter Paradise". The point being (the 2nd
Commandment) that Man cannot server two masters God and Money.
Personaly, I am convinced that the Cathololic church introduced many falsehoods
into Christianity as a means to reach and retain Power over many Kingdoms and
their illiterate masses. The proof is in their actions - just count the crimes
they have commited in the name of God over the centuries.
By the way, according to the ancient History books, the expression
"Lord" is a Roman concept. During the time of Christ, Rome was the
ultimate power and Roman Emperor "Ceasar" was called Lord, because
according to Roman Law he was God's representative on Earth...
Thank you once again for your reply.
Question to you:
Will Jesus return at the end of Time according to the Quran Al Kareem?
I do miss our
discussions...

Answer:
The return of Jesus Christ
In the name of
Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah
guides none can misguide, and who-ever He allows to fall astray, none can guide
them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone,
and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of
His Messengers.
Dear Brother,
I have want to make a few
comments on your notes, before I answer
your main question in detail…so please bear with me; because the similarities in the words of Jesus Christ (peace be
upon him) and the Message brought by Prophet Mohamed (peace be upon him) are
strikingly similar! And our belief
is, why should it not be: Both of them (peace be upon them both) were
indeed sent by the Merciful Lord as His Messengers to mankind.
Your Comment: Jesus
re-affirmed all the Commandements revealed to Moses on Mount Sinai.
Dear Brother, please read below the verses of the Holy
Quran confirming what you have just stated and beyond! Jesus came to re-affirm what was intact of
the Law of Moses, which the believers
of Moses had changed over time after the death of Moses; and in the same sequence, Allah sent Mohamed to confirm the Scripture
(Gospel) that was Revealed in Truth to Jesus,
which the believers of Jesus had changed over time after his being
raised to the Heavens.
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 47-48:
44 Indeed, We sent down the Torah (to Moses) wherein
was Guidance and Light: thereby all
the Prophets who had (indeed) submitted their will (to Allah), by its (Torah’s) standard judged the cases
of the Jews. Likewise the Rabbis and
the Doctors of the Law (based their judgements on it), for they were made the guardians of the Book
of Allah, and witnesses to it. So, (O Jews), do not fear the people but fear Me, and do not sell My Revelations for paltry worldly gains! Those who do not judge by the Law which
Allah has sent down, are indeed the
disbelievers.
45 We ordained therein for
them: "Life for life, eye for
eye, nose for nose, ear for ear, tooth for tooth, and
wounds equal for equal." But if
anyone remits the retaliation by way of charity, it is an act of atonement for himself. And if any fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath
Revealed, they are (no better than the)
wrong-doers.
46 And in their
footsteps, We sent Jesus the son of
Mary, confirming the Law that had come
before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was Guidance, and Light,
and Confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a Guidance and an Admonition to those who
fear Allah.
47 Let the people of the
Gospel Judge by what Allah hath revealed therein. If any do fail to judge by (the light of) what Allah hath
revealed, they are (no better than)
those who rebel.
48 To thee (O Mohamed) We
sent the Scripture in Truth, confirming
the Scripture that came before it, and
guarding it in safety; so judge
between them by what Allah hath Revealed,
and follow not their vain desires,
diverging from the Truth that hath come to thee. To each among you, have We prescribed a Law,
and an Open Way. If Allah had
so willed He would have made you a single people but (His plan is) to test you
in what He hath given you: so strive as
in a race in all virtues. The goal of
you all is to Allah; it is He that will show you the truth of the matters in
which ye dispute.
The Jews were cursed in the
Gospel by Allah after they refused to accept Jesus as a Prophet from God; and similarly the Christians (and the Jews)
were condemned in the Quran because they refused to accept Mohamed as a Prophet
from the same One God!
In effect, the Christians did to Mohamed exactly what
the Jews did to Jesus Christ; they
dis-believed in the appointment of successive Prophethood by God!
Your Statement: In another instance he said that if we would
completely follow the first 2 commandments, we would see ourselves following
all of them... The first Commandment affirms that there is only ONE God.
(Where's the Trinity?) The second Commandment affirms that "we must never
bow to idols or images"
The same exact theme was brought
and taught by Prophet Mohamed (saws);
and it was made the testification of Faith for all muslims: ‘Laa ilaaha illallaah’ (There is no
god, but Allah!)
And the same spirit of the term
that Jesus (and all the other Prophets of God) declared was also taught by
Mohamed (saws): that if you
believe, follow, obey, and worship the One True God Alone, and don’t commit ‘shirk’ (associating other
gods with God) you will attain Salvation.
Allah says in the
Quran: Chapter 4 Surah An-Nisa Verse 48:Shirk (associating other deities
with Allah) is the only sin that Allah does not forgive, and He
forgives, whomsoever He pleases, sins
other than this. For whosoever
associates any other partner with Allah,
does indeed forge a big lie, and
commits the most heinous sin
Your Statement: Jesus says: "It is easier for a camel
to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Paradise"
Just compare the words of Jesus
Christ with what Allah says in the Glorious Quran; and honestly tell me: are
these both not the Radiance from the same Light?
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verse 40: To those who reject Our Revelations, and treat them with Arrogance, no opening will there be of the Gates
of Heaven, nor will they enter Paradise,
until the camel can pass through the eye of the needle (meaning
it would be ‘impossible’)! Such is Our
reward for those in sin.
Just see for yourself what the
Merciful Lord says in the Quran about those who truly believe in Jesus Christ
(a.s.), and their relationship with the
muslims! And compare the difference
of how Allah treats the true Christians when they heard and believed in what
was revealed to Prophet Mohamed (saws)!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 82-86:
82 Strongest among men in enmity to the
believers, wilt thou find the Jews and
Pagans; and nearest among them in love
to the believers wilt thou find those who say: "We are
Christians": because amongst these
are men devoted to learning, and men
who have renounced the world, and they
are not arrogant.
83 And when they listen to the Revelation received
by the Messenger (Mohamed) thou wilt see their eyes overflowing with
tears, for they recognize the
truth: they pray: "Our Lord! We believe; write us down among the
witnesses.”
84 "What cause can we have not to believe in
Allah, and the Truth which has come to
us, seeing that we long for our Lord to
admit us to the company of the righteous?"
85 And for this their prayer hath Allah rewarded
them with Paradise with rivers flowing underneath, their eternal home. Such
is the recompense of those who do good.
86 But those who reject Faith, and belie our Revelations, they shall be companions of the Hell-Fire.
Allah has described three of the
good qualities of the true Christians who subsequently believed in Prophet
Mohamed (saws):
Amongst them are men of learning,
Amongst them are men who have
renounced the world,
Amongst them are men who are not
arrogant.
Honestly brother, if I may say so…I see two of these three
qualities evident in you… (renouncing the world is a bit far fetched at this
point of time!)
And please note what Prophet
Mohamed (saws) said about Prophet Jesus (a.s.):
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 4.652 Narrated by Abu
Huraira
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) said, "Both in this
world and in the Hereafter, I am the nearest of all the people to Jesus, the
son of Mary. The Prophets are paternal
brothers; their mothers are different, but their religion is one."
Your Statement: Personaly, I am convinced that the
Cathololic church introduced many falsehoods into Christianity as a means to
reach and retain Power over many Kingdoms and their illiterate masses. The
proof is in their actions - just count the crimes they have commited in the
name of God over the centuries.
Brother, if you are convinced
about the falsehoods; maybe its time
you searched for the Truth: for the
Truth will indeed set you free!
Now to your main question:
Question to
you: Will Jesus return at the end of Time according to the Quran Al Kareem?
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verses 157-158:
157 That they (The Jews) said
(in boast) "We killed Christ
Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah"; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them and those who differ therein
are full of doubts with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow.
For of a surety they killed him not.
158 Nay! Allah raised him (Jesus Christ) up unto
Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power Wise.
When Jesus came to his disciples
(who thought he was dead and had returned as a ghost), he gave them the due greetings of
‘Shaloam’, and begins calming
them, and says the following to prove
that he is not ghost, but a normal
human being.
Bible Luke
24:39-40
“Behold my hands
and my feet,
That it is I
myself,
Handle me and see,
For a Spirit has
no flesh and bones, as you see me have.
…. And he showed
them his hands and his feet.”
The disciples were overjoyed and
wondered what could have happened.
They had thought that he was dead,
but here was their master, in flesh and bones! To assure them further,
Jesus asks:
Bible Luke 24:
41-43
“Have you here any
meat,
And they gave him
a piece of broiled fish and of a honeycomb,
And he took
it, and did eat before them.”
The Bible proves the point made
in the Quran, that Jesus was alive and never
killed as thought by the Jews and Jesus’s disciples.
Brother, the truth is that the Quran is silent on the
second coming of Jesus Christ to earth,
although there are several pointers;
but Prophet Mohamed (saws) has stated clearly in several narrations that
the end of time will not come until Jesus Christ returns back to earth and
establishes the Kingdom of God on earth;
and that is the belief of every true Muslim.
The below aayah is one of the
clear pointers where first Allah declares that the Jews did not crucify
Jesus, nor did they kill him; but the
matter was made dubious to them. And
then He declares in verse 159 that there will be none among the People of the Book
(the Jews and the Christians) who must believe in Jesus Christ before his death; clearly confirming that Jesus Christ will
come to earth, establish the Kingdom of
God, and die his natural death on
earth! This is precisely what has been
related in several ‘hadiths’ or authentic narrations of Prophet Mohamed
(saws), which I am quoting to you
below.
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 5 Surah Maidah verses 158-159:
157 That they (The Jews) said
(in boast) "We killed Christ
Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah"; but they killed him not, nor crucified him, but so it was made to appear to them and those who differ therein
are full of doubts with no (certain) knowledge, but only conjecture to follow.
For of a surety they killed him not.
158 Nay! Allah raised him (Jesus Christ) up unto
Himself; and Allah is Exalted in Power Wise.
159 And there is none of the
People of the Book, but must
believe in him (Jesus) before his death;
and on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness against them.
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 4.657 Narrated by Abu
Huraira
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) said, "By Him (Allah)
in Whose Hands my soul is, surely
(Jesus,) the son of Mary will soon descend amongst you, and will judge mankind justly (as a Just
Ruler); he will break the Cross, and kill the pigs, and there will be no Jizya (i.e. taxation taken from
non-Muslims). Money will be in
abundance so that nobody will accept it,
and a single prostration to Allah (in prayer) will be better than the
whole world and whatever is in it."
Abu Huraira added "If you wish, you can recite (this verse of the
Holy Book): 'And there is none Of the people of the Scriptures (Jews and
Christians) But must believe in him (i.e Jesus as an Apostle of Allah and a
human being) Before his death. And on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness
Against them." (4.159)
Sahih Muslim Hadith
6931 Narrated by Hudhayfah ibn Usayd
Ghifari
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) came to us all of a sudden as we were (busy in a discussion). He (saws) said: “What do you discuss
about?” (The Companions) said: “We are discussing about the Last Hour.”
Thereupon he (saws) said: “It will not come until you see ten signs
before and (in this connection), he
(saws) made a mention of the
smoke, Dajjal (The anti-Christ), the
beast, the rising of the sun from the
west, the descent of Jesus son of
Mary (Allah be pleased with him),
The Gog and Magog, and
landslides in three places, one in the
east, one in the west, and one in Arabia at the end of which a fire
would burn forth from the Yemen, and would drive people to the place of their
assembly.
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 4.658 Narrated by Abu
Huraira
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) said: "How will
you be when the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you, and he will judge people by the Law of the
Qur'an, and not by the law of Gospel”
Sunan of Abu-Dawood
Hadith 4310 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
The Prophet (saws)
said: “There is no prophet between me
and him, that is, Jesus (peace be upon him).
He will descent (to the earth).
When you see him, recognise him: a man of medium height, reddish fair, wearing two light yellow
garments, looking as if drops were
falling down from his head though it will not be wet. He will fight the people for the cause of Islam. He will break the cross, kill swine,
and abolish Jizyah. Allah will perish all religions except
Islam. He will destroy the
Antichrist, and will live on the earth
for forty years, and then he will
die. The Muslims will pray over him.”
Sahih Muslim Hadith
6924 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) said: “The Last Hour will
not come until the Romans land at al-A'maq or in Dabiq. An army consisting of the best (soldiers)
of the people on Earth at that time will come from Medina (to oppose
them). When they arrange themselves in
ranks, the Romans will say: ‘Do not stand between us and those (Muslims)
who took prisoners from among us. Let us fight them.’ The Muslims will say:
‘Nay, by Allah, we shall never
turn aside from you and from our brethren so that you may fight them.’ They will then fight, and a third (part) of the army, whom Allah will never forgive, will run
away. A third (part of the army), which will be constituted of excellent
martyrs in Allah's eyes, would be
killed. The third who will never be put on trial will win, and they will be the conquerors of
Constantinople. As they are busy in
distributing the spoils of war (amongst themselves) after hanging their swords
by the olive trees, Satan will
cry: ‘The Dajjal (anti-Christ) has taken your place among your families.’ They will then come out, but it will be of no avail. When they reach Syria, he will come out
while they are still preparing themselves for battle, drawing up the
ranks. Certainly, the time of prayer
will come and then, Jesus (peace be
upon him), son of Mary, will descend
and will lead them in prayer. When
the enemy of Allah see him, it will (disappear) just as salt dissolves in
water, and if he (Jesus) were not to
confront them at all, even then it would dissolve completely. Allah would kill them by his (Jesus’s)
hand, and he would show them their
blood on his lance (the lance of Jesus Christ).”
Sahih Muslim Hadith
7023 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr
The Messenger
of Allah (saws) said: “The Dajjal (anti-Christ) will appear in my Ummah and he will stay (in
the world) for forty--I cannot say whether he meant forty days, forty months or
forty years. Allah will then send
Jesus, son of Mary, who will resemble Urwah ibn Mas'ud. He (Jesus Christ) will chase him and kill
him.”
It has also been reported
in authentic narrations of the Prophet (saws) that he said that his brother and
Prophet, Jesus Christ son of Mary, will die and be buried next to his grave in
Medina.
Dear brother, I am sorry that this answer has become
long, but I wanted to give you the full
picture with quotations from the Quran and from the hadiths of Prophet Mohamed
(saws) that would address your question to the full.
Brother, there are numerous
similarities between Christianity and Islam,
and the differences in belief are only a few….if we can address these
differences, I am confident that the
Truth will stand out clear from the heresay.
The Major Similarities:
Both religions believe in the
One Supreme and Omnipotent God.
Both religions believe in all
the previous Messengers of God.
Both religions believe in all
the Revealed Scriptures of God.
Both religions believe in the
concept of Angels: Gabriel, Michael, Angel of Death, etc.
Both religions believe in the
concept of the Hereafter; Unending
reward for the righteous, and
everlasting punishment for the doers of evil.
The differences between
Christianity and Islam are only a handful,
but they so border the concept of ‘shirk’, which makes them an insurmountable barrier!
The Christians believe in
Trinity; Islam believes in the One True
God Alone. (we have already addressed this issue.)
The Christians believe in The
Messiah, Christ Jesus (a.s.) as the son
of God; Islam believes that he (a.s.)
was one of the mightiest Prophets of the Lord.
The Christians believe in the
concept of the ‘eternal’ sin; Islam
believes that every child is born on nature;
that is ‘innocent’. His deeds, which he does of his own free will, decides whether he is righteous or evil.
The Christians believe that
Jesus Christ (a.s.) was sent and ‘crucified’ to redeem the sins of man; Islam believes that the deeds of a
person, done with his own free
will, will determine the result of his
life in the Hereafter.
The Christians believe that only
belief in Christ Jesus (a.s.) as their Lord can bring them salvation; Islam propagates that only those people who
sincerely believe (1) in the One
God, (2) in all His Messengers, (3) in all His Angels, (4) in all His Revealed Books, (5) in the concept of Hereafter, and (6) in the Divine Decree of God; and
do righteous good deeds according to the Guidance Revealed by God, can attain salvation.
Brother, I am confident that we can address these
five differences in detail, with the
help of the Divine Guidance available to us,
and with logic and reasoning;
we will, Insha Allah, have the Truth stand clear of the falsehood.
If you need any clarifications
whatsoever, or have any questions in
the matter of religion; I would be
honored to address them for you.
I wish to conclude with the
Divine Advice of God addressed to the Jews and the Christians in the Holy
Quran:
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verse 64: Say: "O People of the Book (Jews and
Christians)! Come to common terms as between us (Muslims) and you: that we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with Him; that we erect not from among ourselves Lords
and patrons other than Allah." If
then they turn back, say: "Bear witness that we (at least) are
those who have surrendered our will to Allah (i.e. we are Muslims)."
Your brother and sincere well
wisher,
Burhan
