Salaam Alaykum brother Burhan and all the readers,

I received the below email from one of my colleagues, please advise if it is authentic.

Namaaz-e-Qazaa-e-Umr

Hazrat Amir-ul-mo`mineen (AS) said that any person who has accumulated a lot of qazaa namaz (missed a lot of salaats) and does not have the strength to offer them should offer Namaaz-e-qazaa-e-umr. This namaaz is the kaffara to cover 700 years of qazaa namaaz. One person asked Wali-Ullah "but the people of the ummat of Nabi live only 70-100 years at the most?" Hazrat Ali (AS) replied that the namaaz-e-kaffara covers your whole life`s qazaa namaaz, your parents`, your grand parents`, your great grand parent`s and others going back up to 700 years qazaa namaaz. When to pray ?

On the last Friday of the month of Ramadhan before sunset. ?How to pray

Its a 4 rakaat namaaz with one salaam. In every rakaat recite Sura-e-fateha (Alhamd) onc; followed buy Sura-e-Ahad (Qulahuwallah) 25 times; followed by Ayat-ul-Kursi (Surah al-Baqarah Verses 255-257) once and followed by Sura-e-Kauthar 15 times.

The Holy Qur`an says: "If someone trusts Allah, He will suffice Him. He will surely bring about what He decrees. Allah has set a measure for everything". (Surah al-Talaq, 65:3)

Answer:

One prayer for missed prayers

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 103:

Indeed the Salaat is a prescribed duty that should be performed by the believers at (their) appointed times.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verses 45-46:

45 Nay seek (Allah's) help with patient perseverance and ‘salaah’: it is indeed hard except to those who bring a lowly spirit.

46 Who bear in mind the certainty that they are to meet their Lord and that they are to return to Him.

The Prophet (saws) said, "The head of the matter is Islam, its pillar is the prayer, and the top of its hump is Jihad in the Way of Allah."

Jabir reports that the Prophet (saws) said, "Between a person and disbelief is discarding prayer."

Related by Ahmad, Muslim, Abu Dawud, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.

Abdullah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'Aas reported that the Prophet (saws) one day mentioned the prayer and said, "Whoever guards and observes his prayer, they (his prayers) will be a light and a proof and a savior for him on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever does not guard and obvserve them, they will not be a light or a proof or a savior for him. On the Day of Resurrection, he will be with Qarun, Fir'aun, Haman and Ubayy ibn Khalf."

Related by Ahmad, at-Tabarani and Ibn Hibban.

Intentionally missing an obligatory prayer is not even given as an option in the deen of Islam! If one has missed one’s prayers, the one and only atonement for them is to turn back to their Lord in ‘taubah’ and seek sincere repentance for their transgression, and offer their prayers ‘qada’….it is expected that they will find their Lord Forgiving and Merciful.

Anas related that the Prophet (saws) said, "Whoever forgets a prayer should pray it when he remembers it, and there is no expiation for it save that."

Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

Your Question: I received the below email from one of my colleagues, please advise if it is authentic.

Dear and beloved Sister in Islam, to the best of our knowledge there is absolutely no such prayer called the ‘namaaz-e-qazaa-e-umr’ or anything even close or similar to it in the authentic and established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah, nor in the examples of any of the Prophet’s (saws) noble companions, nor in the record of any of the schools of thought in Islam!

The most probable explanation is that some unscrupulous people have invented this form and ritual of atonement themselves without any endorsement from the Quran or the Sunnah, and attributed their invention to the Noble Companion of the Prophet (saws), Hadrat Ali ibn Abi Taalib (r.a.). And Allah Alone Knows Best. We assure you in the Blessed Name of Allah Subhanah, that there is absolutely nothing even close to or similar to such a thing as the ‘namaaz-e-qazaa-e-umr’ in the authentic and established Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).

If one trusts, obeys, and follows the guidance and commands of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of never ever being misled; but if one believes, obeys and follows any other guidance, other than that of Allah and His Messenger (saws), one can be assured of being led astray.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
