this question:
Asalamualiekum.!
Thanks
a lot for the reply. A couple of weeks back I saw "Surah Noor" in my
dream. Let me tell u I didn`t recite it but I saw the Holy Quran, and the page
of Surah Noor was open in front of me. I would like to ask you if it means
anything. Though I know you don`t interpret dreams, I still wanted to ask you
does this dream say anything in particular. I had such dreams before as well,
but which Surah or aayaat did I see, I really don`t remember. Secondly it`s
this feeling I`ve been having. It`s a very strange thing and it may sound odd
to you. Please don`t take it as a phobia or something.it`s not that but I
really don`t know why I feel like this since a year. I have this strange kind
of fear that something bad may happen to a family member. May be tomorrow may
be day after, or in coming days.if my family is out of the town or outside
home. I feel God forbid something bad is going to happen to one of them.
usually I feel like this about a particular person in my family.. I do trust
Allah and I know whatever happens it`s all according to His will only..but
still have this fear all the time. It`s not that something like that has ever
happened in my family, like some accident or any such thing. However, I still
feel this way. All I wanted to ask you is why do I feel so and what should I do
to overcome this fear. Could you please tell me any verses from The Holy Quran
that can help me. I want to get this fear off my mind.
Thanks
a lot and God bless you.

Answer:
Dreams
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 9.144 Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "When the
Day of Resurrection approaches, the dreams of a believer will hardly fail to
come true, and a dream of a believer is one of forty-six parts of Prophetism,
and whatever belongs to Prothetism can never be false." Muhammad bin Sirin said, "But I say
this." He said, "It used to be said, 'There are three types of
dreams:
- The
reflection of one's thoughts and experiences one has during wakefulness,
- what
is suggested by the Shaytaan to frighten the dreamer,
- or
glad tidings from Allah.
So, if someone has a dream which he dislikes,
he should not tell it to others, but get up and offer a prayer.'"
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 9.168 Narrated by Abu Salama
I used to see a dream which would make me
sick till I heard Abu Qatada saying, "I too, used to see a dream which
would make me sick till I heard the Prophet (saws) saying, "A good dream
is from Allah, so if anyone of you saw a dream which he liked, he should not
tell it to anybody except to the one whom he loves, and if he saw a dream which
he disliked, then he should seek refuge with Allah from its evil and from the
evil of Shaytaan, and spit three times (on his left) and should not tell it to
anybody, for it will not harm him."
Dear and beloved sister in Islam, if you experience any
dream which is good, rest assured they are glad tidings from the Lord and you
should strive to become even more obedient and more subservient to your Lord
and His Commands, and be grateful for His favors and the honor which He has
bestowed upon you.
If you experience any dream which is scary or frightful,
rest assured that it is from the Shaytaan…you should immediately seek refuge in
Allah Subhanah from its evil as soon as you wake up, recite the ‘Muawwedaat’
(Surah 113th Al-Falaq and the Surah 114th An-Naas), spit
three times on your left, and should not relate the evil dream to anyone. If
you have sought refuge in Allah from its evil, it will never ever be able to
harm you in the least.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
