Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's
Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Dear Brother Burhan,
Assalam Alaikum.
Please advise if I can delay / postpone my mensturation cycle by taking the
Pills as I do not want to loos any of the fasts during Ramadhan.
Kindly advise on this as Ramadhan has approached.
Zazakallah Khair,

Answer:
Delay
menses for Ramadhan
In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai, nobody!) worthy of
worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His
slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Because such modern means and
methods of postponing the menstruation cycle of women was not available at the
time when the Quran was being revealed, the Quran and the Sunnah are silent on
the issue; whereby it is neither prohibited nor encouraged.
The
majority of the jurists and scholars in Islam are of the opinion that if a
believing woman has these modern methods of delaying her menstruation cycle at
her disposal and wishes to delay it to fulfill her worship to her Lord in
Ramadan or to complete the rites of Umrah or Hajj, there is absolutely no harm
and no sin if she chooses to do so.
Whatever
written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance,
and whatever of error is of me alone.
Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
Your brother and well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
