Answer:
Can one pay Zakat in lumpsum amount?
In the name of Allah, We praise
Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,
no grave, no prophet, no
imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone,
and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of
His Messengers.
There is no harm if one pays his
zakat dues in a lumpsum
amount, or in
installments.
Allah Subhanah
has made the payment of zakah obligatory on every
eligible believer. If one can
accurately calculate his zakat dues, he may pay the exact 2.5% of his net
worth which has been with him for a year.
But if one has so much wealth, or for some reason, is not able to calculate his net worth
accurately; he must try and calculate
the zakat value on the higher side. That would be purer for him, simply because
whatever amount he pays in the Cause of Allah over and above the zakat dues, will be
recorded as voluntary charity or ‘sadaqa’. But if one intentionally pays an amount
less that his actual zakah dues, he will be held severely accountable
in the Court of Allah Subhanah.
Whatever written of Truth and
benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error
is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He
is the Only Source of Strength.
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
