Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I recently received this chain letter:

"Believe In that... !! this is in arabic.. this is what it says..

A young girl had a very serious illness.. nothing could cure her.. On laylet el qadr.. the girl was asleep..and in her dream.. Zainub (our prophets (sallah allah 3ala wa salm) daughter) gave the young girl some water.. in the morning when the girl got up her illness had cured.. next to her bed..she found a piece of material saying that she must distribute that to 13 people.. and so she did..

A navy officer sent this letter to 13 people and he was promoted..

A business man recieved this letter and threw it away..not

believing in it.. and he lost everything he had within 13 days..

It reached a labourer and he distributed it to 13 people.. he was promoted and all his problems were solved within 13 days..

So you must send this e mail to 13 people for something good to happen to you (inshallah) so people..get sending !! :) dont be lazy. "

Also included was a picture of an arabic verse.

Please tell me in the light of quran and sunna, what is the significance of such letters and what should i do? I would appreciate an early reply and I want to give the right answer to my friends, including those who send such chain letters.

Answer:

Chain Letters

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: Please tell me in the light of quran and sunna, what is the significance of such letters and what should i do?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verse 2:

2 What Allah out of His Mercy doth bestow on mankind there is none can withhold: what He doth withhold there is none can grant apart from Him: and He is the Exalted in Power Full of Wisdom.

Dear and Beloved Sister in Islam, the origin and distribution of such chain letters which claim to bring good or evil are absolutely baseless, and have absolutely no relation to the happenings in one’s life. Everything, and I repeat everything that occurs in the heavens and the earth happens with the Permission and Will of the Lord Most Majestic; and the Will and Permission of the Lord Most Supreme does not depend on such self-invented baseless ‘chain’ letters.

To believe that the distribution or non-distribution of chain letters or anything else can bring about good or evil would be a manifest form of ‘shirk’; and the believers who sincerely believe in Allah and the Last Day must absolutely abstain from indulging in such conjectures.

Your Question: what should i do?

When one receives such ‘chain’ letters which claim to bring about good or evil, absolutely disregard and discard them; and know with conviction that everything, absolutely everything is in the Control and Domain of none other than the One and Only Supreme Lord of the Universe.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
