One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

As salam alaikum!

I was a hindu girl, but recently i`ve embraced islam from my heart, I love a muslim guy from past 3years masha allah! he also loves me, but the problem now is this that his parents are not agreeing as they say i`m a hindu, They say even if get converted it`s not allowed, I know it`s not allowed unless i beleive in islam ,i`m no more a hindu from my heart, i have a true faith in allah and islam, i`ve read The holy quran and other islamic books to know more about islam and i`m doing my best to follow islam in allah`s way, He never told me to get converted and he is very angry with me because i`m getting converted right now, i know his parents are not wrong, as they don`t know me, they don`t know my feelings are true, I don`t want to make them unhappy, i want them to be happy about our marriage, i need some elder person, or a family who is a muslim family, to speak to them as my guardians , i am new to this religion i don`t know who can help me, who can speak to them as my brother or guardian, i need his and his family`s love forever, please guide me how to convince them in a right way so that they feel happy about our marriage,

Thanks

Answer:

Hindu revert to Islam

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah-o-Akbar! Allah-o-Akbar! Allah-o-Akbar! May Allah Subhanah bless your reversion to the Truth, have mercy upon you, and give you the wisdom and the courage to remain steadfast on this Path of Truth which you have chosen until the last breath leaves your body and your soul is returned back to your Lord Who Created.

Your Statement: They say even if get converted it`s not allowed, I know it`s not allowed unless i beleive in islam ,i`m no more a hindu from my heart, i have a true faith in allah and islam,

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 221:

221 Do not marry unbelieving women (idolaters) until they believe; a slave woman who believes is better than an unbelieving woman even though she allure you. Nor marry (your girls) to unbelievers until they believe: a man slave who believes is better than un unbeliever even though he allure you. Unbelievers do (but) beckon you to the fire. But Allah beckons by His grace to the Garden (of Bliss) and forgiveness and makes His Signs clear to mankind: that they may celebrate His praise.

Beloved Sister in Islam, it is indeed true that it is against the Law in Islam for a believer to marry an unbelieving idolatrous women, unless she professes belief. Once the sister has professed belief in Allah Subhanah and in Prophet Mohamed (saws) as the Last and Final Messenger, she enters the fold of Islam and all the rights that are due to a believer will be accorded to her in full. She may marry amongst the believers, she will inherit her muslim husband, her children will inherit her, she will be given a muslim burial, etc., etc. Absolutely all rights that are due to a believer will be accorded to her in absolute full.

Your Question: i know his parents are not wrong, as they don`t know me, they don`t know my feelings are true, I don`t want to make them unhappy, i want them to be happy about our marriage

Dear and beloved sister in Islam, sometimes it so happens that a muslim boy or girl falls in love with a disbelieving girl or boy, and only to fulfill the legalities of Shariah Law the person verbally declares his/her belief in Islam; which would enable them to marry that person.

It might be that in the experience of the parents of the boy you love, they might have encountered a similar situation and fear that your reversion to Islam is only to marry their son, and perchance you may revert back to the belief you were born in after your marriage.

Beloved sister, the fear of the parents of the boy you love are not unfounded, and they only fear for the best for their son. The only way for you to convince his parents is after your conversion, manifest with your deeds that you indeed have truly believed in Allah and the Last Day and truly wish to embrace the guidance and commands of Islam in every single aspect of your life. Once they are totally convinced by your deeds, and if Allah Subhanah so Wills and Pleases, it is expected that their worst fears regarding you going back to the belief you were born would be mitigated, and they would consent to the marriage of their son with you.

Your Statement: i need some elder person, or a family who is a muslim family, to speak to them as my guardians , i am new to this religion i don`t know who can help me, who can speak to them as my brother or guardian,

Beloved Sister, once you truly strive to follow Islam, you will meet many good believers …. and once they are convinced regarding your sincere conversion to Islam, it would be an honor for any amongst them to take your proposal to the boys parents and vouch for your sincere belief. Once they hear the truth from someone they trust or know, all their fears and barriers will be addressed, and if Allah Wills and Pleases, they would be more than convinced and satisfied to make you their daughter in law, Insha Allah.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
