Answer:
Meaning of name
Adnan
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is no one (no idol, no person, no
grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 98 Surah
Bayyinah verses 7-8:
7 Those who have faith and do righteous
deeds they are the best of creatures.
8 Their reward is with Allah: Gardens of ‘Adn’ (Eternity)
beneath which rivers flow; They will dwell therein for ever; Allah well pleased
with them and they with Him: all this
for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher
The Arabic term ‘Adnaan’ is derived from the Quranic term
or root word ‘Adn’, which means something that is eternal and everlasting, like
the Gardens of ‘Adn’ promised by the Lord to the righteous in the Hereafter.
Adnan was also the name of one of the early ancestors of
the Prophet Mohamed (saws) and is a perfectly acceptable and good name to keep
in Islam.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
