Assalam Allaykum,

I want to know if its true that when a girl is virgin and when she has sex for the first time, and loses her virginity, she bleeds. The reason I am asking this question is that I am married and will be consummating my marriage very soon--in a month.

If a girl, or someone`s wife, at the time of having sex for the first time with her husband doesnt bleed.. does it mean she was not virgin?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. According to the best of our knowledge, when the ‘hymen’ or the thin membrane at the opening of the female organ is broken it results in a slight bleeding. The ‘hymen’ membrane is usually broken when the female has her first intercourse, but it very possible that a women who is very active or has played active physical sports might have ruptured her hymen even before her first intercourse.
