Answer:

Dua to Lose Weight

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: some one told me to supplicate this duas also. YA BADIYAL AJAIBE BIL KHAIRE YA BADIO. FOR 1200 times every day. should I go for it. What is the meaning of those words.

The exact meaning of the quoted phrase is: ‘O One Who Creates or does things in a ‘Ajeeb’ or mysterious manner in good, O One Who Creates.’

Beloved Sister, firstly, although there is nothing wrong in calling upon the Merciful and Bounteous Lord by His Noble Attribute of ‘Al-Badi’ (Creator), the above phrase is not amongst the ‘Masnoon’ supplications or duas from the Sunnah.

Secondly, the phrase is only a statement that calls unto the Lord Creator and not a supplication or dua, for a dua or supplication is something where one asks something from their Lord after calling upon Him.

Thirdly, where did the person who told you to repeat this phrase come up with the number 1200 times a day? Why specifically 1200? Why not more? One may call upon and supplicate their Lord Most Gracious as often as they wish, but to limit the calling or supplication to a specified number of times without specific endorsement from Allah and His Messenger (saws), or to believe that calling upon the Lord 1200 has special merits, etc. then it would take a form of a ‘bida’ or innovation in the deen; and every innovation in the deen of Islam is an error.

Sahih Muslim Hadith 1885 Narrated by Jabir ibn Abdullah

That the Prophet of Allah (saws) said in a sermon: “The best speech is that which is embodied in the Book of Allah, the Al Quran; and the best guidance is the guidance given by me, Mohamed (saws). The most evil affairs are the innovations, and every innovation is an error.”

Beloved Sister, wisdom and logic dictates that one use the available ‘asbaabs’ or methods that are physically required to get the job done, or in your particular case, follow the routine or method prescribed by your doctor or dietician or physical trainer to lose the required weight. And at the same time, remain constant and call upon your Lord as often as you can to help you in attaining the required results. The Lord has Decreed a ‘asbaab’ or method for everything, and simply calling upon the Lord Most High without making any effort on our part does not bring about the desired results. Islam guides that one must do everything in one’s control by using the available ‘asbaabs’ or methods to bring about the desired results, and then call upon their Lord, seeks His Help and Mercy, and trusts Him to bring about the required results.

It is reported in an authentic narration that a beduin Arab came to the Messenger of Allah (saws) and asked him what should he do to protect his assets and provisions when he camps in the desert, should he trust Allah to protect his camel from straying, or should he tie his camel. The Messenger of Allah (saws) said: ‘First tie the camel securely, and then keep your full trust in your Lord.’

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
