Washing private parts

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear brother,

Assalamoalaikum,

I have noticed some of my senior colleagues not using water when going “istinja”. I heard there is most of Azabe qabar due to this.

If you could send detail hadith I can send them. By this way may Allah guide them?

JazakAllahkhair

Answer:

Washing private parts

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 222 (part): ….For Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly, and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean.

The best way to cleanse oneself after relieving is to use water; and in the situation where one cannot find any water, one is permitted to cleanse himself with other materials like stone, sand, tissue-paper, etc.

bn 'Abbas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (saws) passed by two graves and said, "They are being punished. But they are not being punished for a great matter (on their part). One of them did not clean himself from urine, and the other used to spread slander."

Related by Bukhari and Muslim.

Anas narrated the Prophet (saws) as saying, "Purify yourselves from urine, as most punishment in the grave is due to it."

Related by ad-Daraqutni.

In light of the above two authentic narrations of the Messenger of Allah (saw), it is evident that the people who do not cleanse themselves after relieving will have to bear a severe punishment in their graves.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
