One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
I read your Islam page
and found it very interesting, and quite informative. However one question
comes to mind, that until fully answered, leaves every thing else in question.
The big question is this. What proof, historical evidence, archeological proof,
eye witness, or scriptural support is there that Mohammad really talked to
Gabriel and not one of Satan`s Demons, or that
Mohammad didn`t simply consult with his uncle who had
knowledge of the Bible, and invent the whole religion as he went along over the
next 23 years?
Mohammad "claimed" to have talked to the Angel Gabriel in a cave and
that the Angel dictated the Quran to him over (I
think it was) 23 years. I read that at first Mohammad thought it might be evil jinn that was trying to trick him. However his wife and
a cousin convinced him that it really was the Angel Gabriel. What did the wife
and cousin know that would make it absolutely infallible, and beyond the
possibility the this alleged angel wasn`t
in fact Satan or one of his minions. Isn`t it
possible that the wife and cousin were possessed by a demon, and given the
power to persuade Mohammad that he had really talked to an angel?

In the
name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no
person, no grave, no prophet, no imam,
no dai,
nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Dear Brother in
humanity, the questions that you have posed are indeed something which every
intelligent person must ask, and investigate thoroughly whether one who is
claiming to be a Prophet and Messenger of God is indeed a true Prophet or
not. Because if one is indeed a true
Messenger of God, everything he says must be from the Creator; and thus he has
to be obeyed and followed unconditionally. To ask these questions, and indeed
to satisfy oneself thoroughly with the answers, is a right the Creator has
given to every individual who sincerely seeks to determine the Truth.
So how can one
recognize the True Prophets of God? Did
God Almighty write their identification and status of Prophethood
on their foreheads? Did the Creator send
visible Angels to accompany His Prophets, so that all of mankind could
recognize them? Did the Creator of the
heavens and the earth proclaim the coming of His Prophets verbally in a sound
which everyone could hear and recognize?
Did the animate and inanimate creation of the All Mighty behave
differently everytime the Prophets of God went by???
Although
the All Mighty and All Powerful Creator is able to do
all the above things easily, that is not the Way of Affairs of the All Mighty
Lord! The Creator has bestowed upon man
two things which He has not given to any amongst His creation:
- Intelligence and the Power of
Reasoning
- A Free Will
for a limited time of one life, to lead any path of life one chooses.
God wants man to
use his intelligence and power of reasoning to recognize His appointed Prophets
through their revealed Message, their character, their manners, their deeds,
their honesty, and at times the miracles which God performs at their hands.
Contrary to some
who believe in the rebirth concept, or some who believe that man was sent on
earth to pay for the ‘eternal sin’ committed by his ancestors; Islam teaches that man was sent on earth with
these two unique faculties as a test from their Creator. The Creator left countless Signs in each of
His innumerable creations; and put mankind to a test: Who amongst mankind,
using his intelligence and of his own free will, recognizes his Lord and Creator from
His Signs, believes in Him, obeys Him and His appointed Messengers, follows the
Commands and the Way of Life approved by Him, and submits his will to the Will
of his Creator.
Allah says in the Holy Quran in Chapter 67
Surah Al Mulk verse 2: He
(Allah) created death and life that He may test you, to see which of you is the best in
deeds.
Whoever amongst
mankind uses his intelligence and power of reasoning, and of his own free will,
recognizes and submits his will to His Creator, will receive the Forgiveness
and Mercy of his Lord.
And
whoever amongst mankind dares to deny and disobey his Creator, he will deserve
the Wrath and Anger of the All-Mighty Lord of the Worlds!
Your Question: The big
question is this. What proof, historical evidence, archeological proof, eye
witness, or scriptural support is there that Mohammad really talked to Gabriel
and not one of Satan`s Demons, or that Mohammad didn`t simply consult with his uncle who had knowledge of
the Bible, and invent the whole religion as he went along over the next 23 years?
We could talk about
any religion, but for brevity’s sake, lets take the
two religions which ½ or probably almost 2/3rd of the world claim to
follow: Christianity and Islam.
What if
today we were to ask our Christian brethren to give us proof, historical
evidence, archeological proof, eye witnesses, scriptural support, etc.
regarding the miraculous birth of Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), or his
miracles of curing the blind, or curing the lepers, or bringing the dead back
to life, etc.??? What if someone were to
say that the ‘Bible’ in its present form is not the Revealed Book of God???
What proof could our Christian brethren possibly offer??
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 19 Surah Maryam verses 16-22
confirming the miraculous birth of Prophet Jesus (a.s.):
16 Relate in the Book (the story of) Mary when she withdrew from
her family to a place in the East.
17 She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them: then We sent to her Our Angel (Gabriel) and he appeared before
her as a man in all respects.
18 She said: "I seek refuge from thee to (Allah) Most
Gracious: (come not near) if thou dost fear Allah."
19 He said: "Nay I am only a messenger from thy Lord (to
announce) to thee the gift of a holy son."
20 She said: "How shall I have a son seeing that no man
has touched me and I am not unchaste?"
21 He (Gabriel) said: "So (it will be): thy Lord saith `That is easy for Me: and
(We wish) to appoint him as a Sign unto men and a Mercy from Us': it is a
matter (so) decreed."
22 So she conceived him, and
she retired with him to a remote place.
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verses 45-51:
45 Behold! the
Angel said "O Mary! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a Word from Him: his name will
be Christ Jesus the son of Mary held in honor in this world and the Hereafter
and of (the company of) those nearest to Allah.
46 "He shall speak to the people in
childhood and in maturity and he shall be (of the company) of the
righteous."
47 She said: "O my Lord! How shall I have a son when no man hath
touched me?" He said: "Even
so: Allah createth what He willeth;
when He hath decreed a plan He but saith to it `Be'
and it is!
48 "And Allah will teach him the Book and Wisdom the Law and the
Gospel.
49 "And (appoint him) a Messenger to the
Children of Israel (with this message): ‘I have come to you with a Sign from
your Lord in that I make for you out of clay as it were the figure of a bird
and breathe into it and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave; and I heal those born blind and the lepers
and I bring to life the dead by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat
and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did
believe.’
50 "(I have come to you) to attest the
Law which was before me and to make lawful to you part of what was (before)
forbidden to you; I have come to you with a Sign from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me.
51 "It is Allah who is my Lord and your
Lord; then worship Him. This is a way that is Straight."
A muslim in not a muslim unless he believes in the miraculous birth of the
Noble Prophet Christ Jesus (a.s.), and the miracles
he performed in the name of the Lord! A true muslim
neither needs eye-witnesses, nor archeological proof, nor historical evidence
to believe in Christ Jesus as the Messenger of God; for his belief is based on
the very Words of God in His Last Testament; The Holy Quran!
Thus, if one is
indeed seeking the Truth, then historical or archeological evidence, or
eye-witnesses after 1400 or 2000 years is neither the best nor the only way to
determine the Truth; but the absolute best way to determine the Truth is
evaluate the Message claimed to be from God in its present form. For if the Message is indeed from the All
Wise, All Knowing Lord, then it must stand the test of
time without an iota of contradiction or mistakes! If even one mistake or contradiction is found
in the claimed Message, then it cannot be from the All Knowing Lord of the
Worlds.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa verse 82: Do they (the
disbelievers) not ponder over the Quran? Had it been from any other than Allah, surely there would
have been many contradictions in it.
Allah says in the Holy Quran
Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah
verse 23-24: And if you (the disbelievers) be in doubt whether the Book (The Quran) We have sent down to Our Servant (Mohamed (saws)) is
from Us or not, then produce, at
least, one Surah like this. You may call all your associates to assist
you and avail yourselves of the help of any, other than Allah. If you are genuine in your doubt, do this! But if you do not do this, and you can never do this, then fear the Fire which has been prepared
for the disbelievers, and which shall
have men and stones for fuel.
Here are
a few blatant contradictions from the Bible:
Contradiction example 1:
And
again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and He
moved David against them to say: ‘Go, number Israel and Judah’ (II Samuel 24)
And Satan
stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel. (I Chronicles 21)

So Gad
came to David and told him and said unto him, ‘shall Seven Years
of famine come unto thee in they land? Or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? (II Samuel 24:13)

I can go on an on
with the contradictions of the presently available Bible, which our brethren
claim to be the words of God; when only one needs to find ONE error or
contradiction to determine whether it is indeed the Word of God or not.
Now, lets turn to Mohamed (saws) and the Message revealed unto
him in the Holy Quran:

Fact: Mohamed (saws) was an orphan.
Historical
Fact: Mohamed (saws) could not read or write, ie. Illeterate.

Fact: Mohamed (saws) did not attend any school, or university or library, etc.

Fact: Mohamed (saws), except for his one trading trip to

today have confirmed as a scientific fact that the origination of every living
thing is from water; exactly as declared by the Message revealed unto this
unlettered man from the Arabian desert 1,424 years ago: ‘We made from water every living thing.’
Scientific Fact from the Quran example 2:
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 23 Surah Muminoon verses 12-14:
12 Man We did create from a quintessence (of
clay);
13 Then We placed him as (a drop of) sperm in
a place of rest firmly fixed;
14 Then We made the sperm into a clot of
congealed blood; then of that clot We made a (foetus)
lump; then We made out of that lump: bones, and clothed the bones with flesh;
then We developed out of it another creature: so blessed be Allah the Best to
create!
What
modern medicine, with all its ultra modern advances and technologies have only
recently discovered, Mohamed (saws) declared in the Quran
1400+ years ago exactly how the Creator created the nature of birth: first the
sperm was placed in a place of rest, firmly fixed; then into a clot of
congealed blood, then that clot became a lump, and the lump became bones, and
the bones were then covered with flesh!
Modern
medicine today confirms that this is the exact sequence of events when a child
is conceived in the mother’s womb, which an illiterate man from the desert was
able to declare without any machines or tools 1400+ years ago!
Scientific Fact from the Quran 3:
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 21 Surah Anbiyaa verse 33: It is He
(Allah) Who created the night and the day; and the sun
and the moon, each floating in its orbit.
At the
time of the Revelation of the Quran, it was believed
that the Sun moved while the Earth stood still! This system and belief of geocentrism had held sway since the time of Plotemy 2nd Century BC and was to continue until
Copernicus in the 16th Century AD!
Only in the 16th Century AD did the astronomists
confirm what this illeterate Arab declared 1400+
years ago in the Quran: that the sun, the moon, and
the earth all move in their own orbits!
Scientific Fact from the Quran 4:
Allah Says in the Holy Quran
Chapter 25 Surah Furqan
verse 53: It is He (Allah) Who has let free the two bodies of flowing water:
one palatable and sweet, and the other salt and bitter; yet has He made a
barrier between them a partition, that is forbidden to be passed.
The study of
oceanography has only in the last century confirmed this phenomina
of the currents in the seas where these two bodies of water never ever meet,
which the Quran declared almost 1400+ years ago!
I can go
on and on declaring the Truths from the Holy Quran,
which science has only recognized and confirmed recently… If one ponders over
the verses of the Glorious Quran without any prejudice
or malice, he will have no choice but to admit that there is absolutely no way
an illiterate man from the deserts of

single phrase in the Holy Quran which goes against
any established Scientific Fact, nor is there an iota of an error or
discrepancy or contradiction in the whole of the Glorious Quran,
which was revealed to and declared by this illiterate man from the

(the disbelievers) not ponder over the Quran? Had it been from any other than Allah, surely there would
have been many contradictions in it.

in humanity, every single allegation which the people, who do not believe in
Prophet Mohamed (saws) and the Quran, levy today, are
not new! These exact allegations which
you have posed today were posed when the Message was being revealed to Prophet
Mohamed (saws), and the Lord Himself answered these allegations in His Glorious
Revelations of the Quran in His Own Inimitable Way:
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 25 Surah Furqaan verses 4-6:
4 But the disbelievers say: "Naught is this (Quran) but a lie which he (Mohamed (saws)) has forged and
others have helped him at it." In
truth it is they (the disbelievers) who have put forward an iniquity and a
falsehood.
5 And they say: "Tales of the ancients which he has caused
to be written: and they are dictated
before him morning and evening."
6 Say (O Mohamed (saws)): "The (Qur'an)
was sent down by Him,
Who knows the Mystery (that is) in the heavens and the
earth: verily He is Oft-Forgiving Most
Merciful."
Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 81 Surah Takwir verses 19-27:
19 Verily this is the word of a most Honorable Messenger (Gabriel)
20 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne
21 With authority there, (and) faithful of His trust.
22 And (O people!) your companion (Mohamed (saws)) is not one
possessed;
23 And without doubt he saw him (Gabriel) in the clear horizon.
24 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge
of the Unseen.
25 Nor is it the word of an evil Satan accursed.
26 Then whither go ye?
27 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds:
Allah says in the Holy Quran
Chapter 17 Surah Isra verse
88: Declare this! ‘Even if human beings and the jinns
should co-operate with one another to bring forth a book like the Quran, they would never be able to bring
anything like it, even though they all
helped one another!”
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 33: We know
that what they say grieves you (O Mohamed (saws)). But it is not you whom they charge with
falsehood! These wicked people are in
fact, denying
the Revelations of Allah!
Thus, all proofs,
historical or archeological evidences and eye-witnesses apart, the best way to
determine whether the Message revealed to the Last Messenger of God, Mohamed
(saws), is indeed from the Creator or not, is to read the Message and determine
its authenticity! Only those who,
without any prejudice or malice or pre-conceived notions sincerely seek to
determine the Truth, and have the courage and the wisdom to accept the Truth
when they see it can be guided to the Right Path.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 10 Surah Yunus verses 40-44: Some of
these people will believe in (The Quran), and others will
not. Your Lord knows these
mischief-makers very well indeed. If
these people deny you (O Mohamed (saws)), say to them: “I am responsible for my
deeds and you are for yours. You are
not accountable for what I do, nor am I for what you do.” There are many among them who hear what you
say, but will
you make the deaf to listen to you, even
though they be incapable of understanding this? Then there are many others among them who
see you. But will you show the way to
the blind, even
though they be bereft of sight? The
fact is that Allah does not in any way wrong the people, but they wronged themselves!
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 7: (O Prophet)
even if We had sent down to you a Book written on paper, and even if they had touched it with
their own hands, the disbelievers would
have said, “This is nothing but manifest sorcery!”.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 157-158: Now that a clear proof, a Guidance and Blessing, has come to you from
your Lord, who can be more unjust than
the one who treats Our Revelations as false and turns away from them? We will inflict the severest torment on
those who turn away from Our Revelations because of their aversion. Do the people now await
that the Angels should come down before them?
Or that your Lord may Himself come down?
Or that the manifest Signs of your Lord should appear?
Whatever written
of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and
whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone
Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
