How to stop Biba?

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Assalamualaikum, Dear brother in Islaam, Mr.Burhan,

First of all let me congratulate you for the temendous work what you & your team is doing in the righteous path of Islam and guiding people like us to the right path. May Allah Subhana give you all success on this path and increase your knowledge with his Noor. Aamin

Dear Brother, I am from a villege of Ratnagiri District, Maharashtra, India. And right now

working in Kuwait. I want some guidence from you in few matters. such as:

You know in India, most of the muslim people are the beleivers of peer baba, sayyed saab etc. Celebrates urs of Baba`s and also celebrate some gyarvi sharif and Moulud. right now I m 30 yeas old. Before 10 years I was also doing this, But Al-hamdulillah, Allah Subhana has gided me with his blessings and I studied a bit in Relegious issues and came to know that these all are rubbish things and bidat. This is all against the Quran and the Sunna. And When I came to kuwait , I use to attenned the sabaq`s and bayan`s specially in IPC etc. and getting more knowledge about our Deen. But unfortunately, in our villege in India, people are still the same, doing fateha, Ijtamai Quran khani, celebrating urs etc etc. And some of our people are here in kuwait, we want to change the thinking and ways of our villege people to the right way of Islam. But they are so deep in these rubbish things that they don`t want to listen anything against their peer baba, sayyed saab etc. So can you guide us how we can change their way? We want to keep a good Aalim in our Mosque of the villege but they want to contenue with the same Pesh-Imam, who use to give fateha, Niyaz etc. So please guide us what exactly we have to do.

It is really a serieous matter and we think this is our responsibility to invite our people towards the right path of Islam.

Please answer me soon so that I can put this issue to some of our people here in kuwait who wants these changes in our villege and we can take some step after that.

jazakallah Khair.

your brother

How to stop Biba?

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His  forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

All Praise is due to Allah Subhanah Who has guided the believers to the Straight Path of Al-Islam; and saved them from the evils of ‘bida’ (innovations) and ‘shirk’ (associating other gods with Allah Subhanah).

It is indeed a noble task which your team of brothers have undertaken. We must be ‘armed’ with two basic things, before we try to help people see the Straight Path, as portrayed in the Quran and Sunnah:

  1. Wisdom
  2. Patience

Allah says in the Holy Quran: Chapter 16, Surah An-Nahl Ayat 125:Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and excellent admonition and argue with people in the best manner. Your Lord knows best who has gone astray from His Way and who is Rightly guided.

The people who call themselves muslims but are engrossed in such evils as peer-babas, syed-sahibs, urs and milaad celebrations, grave-worship, etc.; are more often than not, very ignorant in the knowledge of the deen from the Quran and Sunnah, and extremely adamant to follow the ways of their forefathers. Besides, we must understand that behind every peer-baba, or grave-worship, or ‘urs’ and other such self-invented ritual celebrations, etc. there are always a group of self-declared ‘holy’ people, whose only interest and mission is to keep on inventing rituals after rituals, and engross people with false stories of the various miracles of their ‘peers’, ‘babas’, ‘syednas’, etc. These people have sold their Hereafter for a paltry price; and in the Court of Allah Subhanah they will have a heavy reckoning indeed!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verses 34-35 :O you who believe! There are indeed many among the priests and the holy men who devour the wealth of others by evil means, and debar the people from the Way of Allah. Give them the good news of a painful torment, who hoard up gold and silver and do not expend these in the Way of Allah. The Day shall surely come when the same gold and silver shall be heated in the fire of Hell, and with it will be branded their foreheads, their bodies and their backs. (And it will be said): “Here is that treasure you had hoarded up for yourselves! Taste now the evil of your hoarded treasure!”

What needs to be done is that the believers to whom Allah Subhanah has bestowed Guidance, must invite such people who are engrossed in ‘bida’ and ‘shirk’ to the True Path of Islam. And the best way to invite the people is to invite them to read and understand the Holy Quran; and once they realize the Truth, the falsehood will disappear by itself!

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 17 Surah Bani Israel verse 81:And declare, “The Truth has come and falsehood has vanished. And falsehood is a thing that must, by its nature, vanish!”

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 8 Surah Anaam verse 108: Revile not ye those whom they call upon besides Allah lest they out of spite revile Allah in their ignorance. Thus have We made alluring to each people its own doings. In the end will they return to their Lord, and We shall then tell them the truth of all that they did.

The believers must be careful never to curse or revile the ‘false gods’ of these worshippers of the ‘peer-babas’ and ‘syednas’ and ‘graves’; for they in their ignorance might start reviling the Lord of the Worlds! Our duty as believers is to invite them to the Truth of the Quran and Sunnah, with wisdom and with patience; to accept or deny our invitation is a thing that the people will have to decide for themselves.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 18 Surah Kahf verse 29:Proclaim, “This (Quran) is the Truth from your Lord: now whosoever wills may accept it, and whosoever wills may reject it.” (As for those who reject it) We have prepared for such workers of iniquity a fire whose flames have encircled them. There, if they ask for water , they will be given a drink like the dregs of oil, which will burn their mouths! What an evil drink, and what an evil abode!

We must also realize, that just because we are inviting to the Truth of the Quran and Sunnah, does not mean that the people will listen or accept the Truth immediately! If the people do not accept the Truth from the Quran or Sunnah, or are not willing to even listen to the Truth; then we must have patience. No matter what these people say or do, we must never hate them, or abuse them, or revile them, etc. We as believers in Allah and the Last Day, and their brothers-in-faith, must love them and be their sincere well-wishers; just as a doctor never hates the patient, but what he hates and tries to cure is the disease of his patient!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
