Qasar Salaat
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
'I went to another country for 2 months and have come back home for 10 days,I will go away again. should i offer qasar salaat while being at home or full salaat?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)
Answer:
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
There is a difference of opinions in this matter with the scholars of Islam and Shariah. You can safely follow the following options.
a) consider your permanent residence city (muqeem) as the place that whenever you are there you offer full salah. Wherever else you travel for a day, or week or upto few months you offer qasr salah.
b) at your muqeem you offer full salah. If you are traveling anywhere and intend to stay 15 days or less then you offer qasr salah. If you intend to stay for more than 15 days then offer full salah. If your intention is to stay for 10 days, you offer qasr salah, but for some reason you extend your stay for a further 10 days, you yet keep on offering qasr salah. In this situation if you extend your stay for 15 days or less you continue to offer qasr for any period till your intention goes to 15 days and above.
Sister as long as you follow one of the above ways always you will be within the permitted limits. The 15 days limit could be made to 10 or 7 if you feel you have all the facilities of boarding and lodging and you can easily keep the time of prayers similar to your muqeem place.
May Allah swt accept your prayers and your efforts in striving to do His ajjavajals bidding.
