How many Qurbanis per family
Mu' meneen Brothers
and Sisters,
As Salaam
Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and
Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our
brothers/sisters has asked this question:
have a question
regarding qurbani.
I and my brother
are employed, and my father is retired (and is getting pension). If we all are
staying together, How many Qurbani (sheeps) are required to be sacrificed from
over whole family.
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)
Answer:
How many Qurbanis per
family
In
the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness.
Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray,
none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person,
no grave, no prophet, no
imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness
that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
It
is obligatory or ‘fard’ for a believer to offer a sacrifice, only if he is performing the actual Hajj
pilgrimage. For the believers who are
not performing the Hajj, the sacrifice
is a preferred Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (saws).
One may
sacrifice as many animals as he wants per person or per family; and there is no limit to the maximum or
minimum. If one is not performing the
Hajj offers a sacrifice, Allah
Subhanah will give him a great reward;
and if one chooses not to offer a sacrifice for any reason, there is no sin on him. The maximum that can be said of such a
person is that he lost a great
opportunity to earn the Pleasure and Good Will of his Lord and Creator on this
auspicious day of Eid al Adha.
Whatever
written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance,
and whatever of error is of me. Allah
Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength
Your Brother in Islam,
Burhan
