Answer:
Recite quran at
beginning of program
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Firstly, there is absolutely no evidence in the authentic
and established Sunnah whereby the Messenger of Allah (saws) would recite a chapter
or part of the Glorious Quran every time the believers were gathered unto him
before starting the program or the meeting!
The Sunnah or correct way or method of starting a lawful
program or gathering is to first Praise Allah Subhanah as He deserves to be
praised (regardless of whether the phrases of the Lord’s Praise and
Glorification is from the Quran or not), send salutations of peace and
blessings upon the Prophet Mohamed (saws), and then initiate the proceedings of
the gathering or program.
If at the initiation of a lawful program or gathering, one
wishes to or perchance recites a passage of the Glorious Quran whereby the Lord
Most Majestic is Praised and Glorified, and a simple translation of the recitation
is done for the benefit of the non-Arabic speakers, there is absolutely no
harm.
But to recite a passage of the Glorious Quran or Praise
Allah Subhanah before starting an evil or unlawful program (eg. a singing or
dancing or any vain or futile events, movies, etc.) would be to make a thorough mockery of
the Words of the Lord Most Majestic, Most Supreme, Most Exalted, Most
Glorified!
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.

well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
