Is it possible for a human to possess knowledge of telepathy

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

Dear brother burhan, is it possible for a human to possess knowledge of telepathy,to read and control the brain of another human being? or is it possible for a human to have contact with jinns and use them for some purpose? can a human being have extraordinary powers?

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Telepathy control jinn

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Your Question: is it possible for a human to possess knowledge of telepathy,to read and control the brain of another human being?

Beloved brother in Islam, if by ‘telepathy’ one means that one makes a guess regarding what another is thinking, or what is in another’s heart or mind, or using logic guesses what step another might take, etc.; to make such guesses either based on one’s wisdom or experience is obviously possible.

But if by ‘telepathy’ one means that one has complete knowledge of what exactly is going on in another’s heart and/or mind, or one has complete control over another’s brain so as to make him think and do as he wills, etc…..in light of the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah that would not be possible at all.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 53 Surah Najam verses 38-39:

38 Namely that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another;

39 That man can have nothing but what he strives for;

The whole system and test of life ordained by the Lord Most High is based on the principle that every soul has been given a free will, and what that soul chooses to do of its own free will shall determine the virtue or sin of its deeds. One human being can surely influence or persuade or guide or manipulate another to do or say something; but it would be impossible and absolutely against the very nature of the test for one to forcibly have total and absolute control over another human beings heart and mind, or make another do or say what one himself does not will to do or say.

Your Question: or is it possible for a human to have contact with jinns and use them for some purpose?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 34 Surah Saba verses 12-13:

12 And to Sulaiman (We made) the wind (obedient): its early morning (stride) was a month's (journey) and its evening (stride) was a month's (journey); and We made a font of molten brass to flow for him; and there were Jinns that worked in front of him by the leave of his Lord and if any of them turned aside from Our command We made Him taste of the penalty of the Blazing Fire.

13 They (the Jinns) worked for him (Prophet Sulaimaan (a.s.)) as he desired: (making) arches, images, basins as large as reservoirs, and (cooking) cauldrons fixed (in their places): "Work ye sons of David with thanks! But few of My servants are grateful!"

In light of the above absolute guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah, as a very special favor and gift to one of His great Prophets, Hadrat Sulaiman (a.s.) alone, the Lord Most High subjugated the service of some amongst the Jinn race to him to do his bidding. One must understand the subjugation of these Jinns was a special and unique favor the Lord Most High bestowed on Prophet Sulaimaan (a.s.) alone, and no one else.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 114 Surah An-Naas verses 4-6:

4 (Say: I seek refuge in Allah ) from the mischief of the whisperer (of evil) who withdraws (after his whisper)

5 (The same) who whispers into the hearts of mankind

6 Among Jinns, and among men.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 14 Surah Ibraheem verse 22:

22 And the Shaytaan (on the Day of Judgment) will say when the matter is decided: "It was Allah Who gave you a promise of Truth: I too promised, but I failed in my promise to you. I had no authority over you except to call you, but ye listened to me: then reproach not me but reproach your own souls. I cannot listen to your cries nor can ye listen to mine. I reject your former act in associating me with Allah. For wrongdoers there must be a Grievous Penalty."

In light of the above guidance of the Quran, it is evident that the only and absolute maximum contact between the Jinn and the human race is that the Jinn has the capacity to whisper into the hearts of men to disobey the Lord and do some evil…they can do no more than that!

Neither can a human being possess or control a jinn of his own desire and thus make him do his bidding; nor can a jinn control a human being of his own desire and make him do his bidding!

Your Question: can a human being have extraordinary powers?

One human may be marginally smarter, stronger, taller, richer, faster, etc. than another…..but if by ‘extraordinary’ powers one means that one possesses the ‘extra-ordinary’ power to see with ‘bionic’ eyes through opaque objects or unimaginable distances, or one can single-handedly lift a mountain, or one possesses the ‘extra-ordinary’ power to hear or call someone from wherever one wills, or one possesses the ‘extra-ordinary’ power to move from one distance to another in a flash-second, etc….then this is obviously unnatural and absolutely impossible.

Such ‘extra-ordinary’ powers are only a figment of one’s imagination and reserved for fictions like ‘Superman’, ‘Batman’, ‘Spiderman’, etc.!

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
