AsA brother,

I had a series of questions to ask, varying in nature from prayer, inheritance, health, financial etc. Before I do, I just wanted to ask what particular school of thought you belong to or when you give your answers, which particluar fiqh or madhab you use.

Many thanks, J-A-K

Answer:

What madhab

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Beloved and dear Brother in Islam, our sole intention at the forum and in our lives is to follow the guidance of the Quran and the Sunnah, and Allah is witness that the ‘madhabs’ of the noble and emiminet Imams like Imam Ahmad ibn Hambal, Imam Shafei, Imam Malik, Imam Abu Haneefa, and all the good scholars and Imams who served the Noble Cause of Islam followed the same Quran and Sunnah.

We respect the opinion of all the noble Imams and scholars who selflessly dedicated their lives to the Noble Cause of Islam, and documented their opinions for the benefit of future generations. May Allah Subhanah reward each and every one of them for their sacrifices and their efforts in His Cause, and grant them all the highest honor in His Kingdom of Paradise.

Allah Subhanah is our witness brother, we at the forum do not prescribe to any particular madhab, nor consider any one madhab or Imam superior or better to another, nor do we consider or recognize ourselves as Sunnis, nor Shias, nor Hanbalis, nor Shafeis, nor Malikis, nor Hanafis, etc; but we, and all the true believers, should be honored to be recognized only by the name that Allah Subhanah has chosen for them: that is, ‘muslims’.

Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 22 Surah Hajj verse 77-78:

O you who have believed, do ‘rukooh’ (bow down) and do ‘sajdah’ (prostration), and worship your Lord Allah Alone, and do righteous deeds: it may be that you attain true success! Exert your utmost for the cause of Allah, as one should. He has chosen you for His service, and has not laid on you any hardship in your religion. Therefore, be steadfast in the religion of your father Abraham. Allah had named you ‘muslims’ before this, and has named you (muslims) in this Quran also, so that the Messenger may be a witness in regard to you, and you may be witnesses in regard to the rest of mankind.

Each of these eminent scholars based their opinions of ‘fiqh’ or jurisprudence on their understanding of the Quran and Sunnah; and every opinion that is based on the Quran and Sunnah should be respected and honored by the believers.

Allah is our witness brother, our striving is to follow only the madhab which was followed by the Noble Messenger of Allah (saws) and by his noble companions….and Allah is our witness, neither the Messenger of Allah (saws) nor his noble companions ever claimed to follow or be recognized as Sunnis, or Shias, or Hanafis, or Malikis….but they were more than satisfied to be recognized by the name Allah had chosen for the believers: that is ‘muslims’.

Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 171 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr

Allah's Messenger (saws) said: ‘There will befall my Ummah exactly (all those) evils which befell the people of Isra'il, so much so that if there was one amongst them who openly committed fornication with his mother there will be among my Ummah one who will do that, and if the people of Isra'il were fragmented into seventy-two sects, my Ummah will be fragmented into seventy-three sects! All of them will be in Hell Fire except one sect. They (the Companions) said: ‘O Allah's Messenger (saws), which one is that?’ Whereupon he (saws) replied: ‘It is one to which I and my companions belong.’

It does not behove and befit a true believer, who sincerely believes in Allah and the Last Day, to belong to any self-invented and man-made sect or madhab; but rather one should be more than satisfied and proud to be recognized with the name his Lord Most Gracious has chosen for His believing slaves: ie. ‘muslims’.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
