Dinosaurs

Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,

As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh.  (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)

One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

I have a question ... is there no mention of dinosaurs in the Holy QUran or Hadith of the prophet? DId they not exist?

(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Dinosaurs

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is no one (no idol, no person, no grave, no prophet, no imam, no dai, nobody!) worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad(saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 57 Surah Hadid verses 1-5:

1 Whatever is in the heavens and on earth, let it declare the Praises and Glory of Allah: for He is the Exalted in Might the Wise.

2 To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; it is He Who gives life and death; and He has Power over all things.

3 He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things.

4 He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in six Days and is moreover firmly established on the Throne (of authority). He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it; what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wheresoever ye may be (with His Knowledge). And Allah sees well all that ye do.

5 To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: and all affairs are referred back to Allah.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 117: To Him is due the primal origin of the heavens and the earth; when He decreeth a matter He saith to it: "Be"; and it is.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 42 Surah Ash-Shura verse 29: And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth and the living creatures that He has scattered through them: and He has power to gather them together when He Wills.

Your Question:... is there no mention of dinosaurs in the Holy QUran or Hadith of the prophet? DId they not exist?

Whatever was, is, and will be in the Heavens and the earth is created by the One and Only Creator of everything in existence, Allah Subhanah The Lord of the Worlds. There is no other Creator than Him!

Science and archeology have indeed discovered remains of the animate creatures called dinosaurs; thus there is absolutely no doubt they existed and survived until the time the Creator had Decreed for them.

It is indeed true that there is no mention of the dinosaurs in the Holy Quran, which was revealed as a Book of Guidance for all mankind. Had the dinosaurs been essential for the guidance of mankind, it would have been mentioned in this Glorious Book of Guidance!

Allah does not send His Messengers nor reveals His Books to educate man on the science of archeology; or to list down the names and features of the creatures which He has created in time! He sends His Messengers and reveals His Books to guide mankind to the Straight Path approved by Him. It suffices for Him to declare that whatever is, was, and will be in creation is created by none other than Him Alone, for there is no other Creator than Allah Subhanah, The Creator of the Heavens and the earth and everything that existed, exists, and will exist in between.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allahs Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your Brother in Islam,

Burhan
