Answer:
Significance of surah kahf
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 2.127
Topic: Recitation of Surah al-Kahf
It is preferred to recite Surah al-Kahf
during the day and night of Friday.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reports that the Prophet (saws)
said: "Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Jumu'ah will have illumination
from the light from one Jumu'ah to the next." Related by an-Nasa'i,
al-Baihaqi, and alHakim.
Ibn 'Umar reports that the Prophet (saws) said:
"Whoever recites Surah al-Kahf on Jumu'ah will be blessed with a light
that will rise from underneath his feet to the peak of the sky. This will be a
light for him on the Day of Resurrection, and he will be forgiven for what is
between the Jumu'ah [and the next] Jumu'ah."
Related by Ibn Mardwwiyah.
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 2175 Narrated by Abu Sa'id
The Prophet (saws) said, "If anyone
recites Surah al-Kahf on Friday, a light will shine brightly for him till the
next Friday."
Related by Bayhaqi.
The vast majority of the scholars and jurists in Islam
consider the hadith regarding the merits of reciting the Surah Al-Kahf on
Fridays as authentic; but because the various reports find no mention in the
two ‘sahihs’ of al-Bukhari or al-Muslim, which are considered the most
authentic, some commentators have said that the records of Tirmidhi, an-Nisai,
al-Hakim, and al-Baihiki cannot be relied upon as completely authentic,
although they all agree that the chain of transmitters is absolutely
faultless. And Allah Alone Knows Best.

An Islamic day starts from sun-set to sun-set; thus if one
wishes to partake of the benefits of the recitation of Surah Al-Kahf as related
in the above quoted narrations, one may recite it anytime between the start and
the end of Friday.
