Should a man be told of his wife’s immoral conduct?

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
As-Salaamu-Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Someone found out that another man’s wife is committing zinaa. Does he have to tell her husband?
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

We put this question to Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Jibreen, may Allaah preserve him, who answered as follows:

If she persists and is admonished but does not repent, then in this case we think that it is obligatory to tell her husband lest “his bed be corrupted” (i.e., lest his honour is compromised and/or a child be born that is not his and thus the lineage is corrupted). And Allaah knows best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
