Is it obligatory for the fiancé or fiancée to tell the other that he or she has diabetes?

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
As-Salaamu-Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
If either the fiancé or fiancée has diabetes, does he or she have to tell the other party about that?.
(There may be some grammatical and spelling errors in the above statement. The forum does not change anything from questions, comments and statements received from our readers for circulation in confidentiality.)

Answer:
Praise be to Allaah.

Firstly:

There is a difference between one of the parties hearing from people that So and so has diabetes, which will have al ighter impact, and one of the parties telling the other about that directly, or the woman’s guardian telling the fiancé about that. This has a greater impact and is more off-putting, and may lead to an end of the marriage proposal.

 Secondly:

The degree of severity of this disease may vary; if it is the regular type that many people suffer, there is no need to tell the fiancé(e) about it. But if it is chronic and serious, then the other party must be told about it.

And Allaah knows best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
