Leaving blood in the animal after slaughter

Dear Brothers & Sisters,
As-Salaamu-Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:
Some meat factories in the western countries deliberately do not drain the blood from the animal after slaughter, so that it will weigh more and they will thus make more money from it. What is the ruling on eating this meat?

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

We put this question to Shaykh ‘Abd-Allaah ibn Jibreen, may Allaah preserve him, who answered as follows:

Leaving the blood in the animal after slaughter and not draining it is haraam and is not permitted. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):

“Forbidden to you (for food) are: Al-Maytah (dead animals – cattle-beast not slaughtered), blood…” [al-Maa’idah 5:3]

And Allaah knows best.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah's Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
