this question:
Dear Mr.
Burhan
Assalaam u
alaikum
This has
reference to your below email.
The first
thing we must do when we visit any graveyard is invoke the prayer that the
Messenger of Allah (saws) used to invoke whenever he visited a graveyard.
THE DUA IS:
`AS SALAAM ALEIKUM AHLED-DIYAAR MINAL MUSLIMEENA WAL
EXACT
TRANSLATION WOULD BE: "PEACE BE UPON YOU, O
PEOPLE OF THIS PLACE (GRAVEYARD) FROM THE MUSLIMEEN AND MUMINEEN.
WE, TOO, GOD WILLING, ARE COMING BEHIND YOU. MAY ALLAH FORGIVE
US AND YOU ALL."
Kindly let me know from where you gave this answer. You
r requested to give us the proper hawala from the QURAN or from the Sahih
Hadith...

Answer:
Reference of
graveyard dua
In the name of Allah,
We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah
guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide
them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah
Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the
seal of His Messengers.
Respected brother, there are
several narrations in the authentic and establish Sunnah regarding the
supplication made by the Messenger of Allah (saws) when visiting the
graveyards.
Sahih Muslim Hadith
2128 Narrated by Buraydah ibn al-Hasib
The Messenger of Allah
(saws) used to teach his companions when they went out to the graveyard. One of
the narrators used to say this in the narration transmitted on the authority of
Abu Bakr: "Peace be upon the inhabitants of the graveyard". In the hadith transmitted by Zuhayr (the
words are):"Peace be upon you, the inhabitants of the graveyard, among the
believers and the Muslims; and God willing we shall join you. I beg of Allah’s Peace
for us and for you.”
Sahih Muslim Hadith
482 Narrated by Abu Hurayrah
The Messenger of
Allah (saws) came to the graveyard and said: ‘Peace be upon you! The abode of
the believing people; and we, if God so wills, are about to join you.’
Buraidah reported: "The Prophet (saws) taught us that when
we visited graves we should say, 'Peace be upon you, O believing men and women,
O dwellers of this place. Certainly, Allah willing, we will join you. You have
preceded us and we are to follow you. We supplicate to Allah to grant us and
you security'.''

Ibn 'Abbas reported: "Once the Prophet (saws) passed by
graves in Madinah. He tumed his face toward them saying: 'Peace be upon you, O
dwellers of these graves. May Allah forgive us and you. You have preceded us,
and we are following your trail'."

Aishah said: "Every time it was my turn to be with the
Prophet (saws) toward the end of the night, he would go out to the cemetery of
al-Baqi' and would say,
'Peace be upon you, O abode of believers. What you were promised
will come to pass tomorrow at a fixed time. We shall, Allah willing, soon join
you. O Allah! Grant forgiveness to the people who are buried in al-Baqi'
al-Gharqad','

Aishah reported: "I asked: 'What should I say when I pass by
a graveyard, O Messenger of Allah (saws)?' He (saws) replied, 'Say, "Peace
be upon the believing men and women dwelling here. May Allah grant mercy to
those who have preceded us and those who are to follow them. Certainly, Allah
willing, we will join you"'."
