(May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Dear brother Burhan, Assalamualaykum,
Request you to answer my few questions:
1) Is it permissible to ask for MAGHFIRAT from Allah for the parents who died
as MUNAFIQ (Due to their ignorance they use to ask for help from the dead like
visiting DARGAH and also not so religious)
2) What is the TAABIR (meaning) of a dream which one sees quite regulary that
he is having physical relations with his mother and somtimes with his sister
and even daughter.
3) How to go about the interest which is already consumed, willingly or
unwillingy
Awaiting your early reply.

Answer:
Seeking forgiveness
for hypocrites
In the name of Allah,
We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah
guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide
them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah
Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the
seal of His Messengers.
Q-1: Is it permissible to ask for MAGHFIRAT from Allah for
the parents who died as MUNAFIQ (Due to their ignorance they use to ask for help
from the dead like visiting DARGAH and also not so religious)
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisaa Verse 145:
145 The hypocrites will be in the lowest depths of the Fire: no helper
wilt thou find for them.
Such is the enormity of the
heinous sin of hypocrisy in the Sight of the Lord Most Majestic that He has
Declared that they will be destined to the ‘Lowest Depth’ of the Hell Fire!
As opposed to the other grave
sins of ‘kufr’ (disbelief) and ‘shirk’ (polytheism) which one can identify openly,
the sin of hypocrisy is a condition of the heart which is known only to Allah
Subhanah Alone. They hypocrites are
those who claim to believe, enjoy all the rights of being a believer, but have
enmity in their hearts against Allah Subhanah, His Messengers, His deen, and
the believers.
It is nigh impossible to
differentiate between a believer and a hypocrite, nor are the believers who
sincerely fear Allah and the Last Day allowed or permitted in Islam to go
around and declare such and such amongst the believers is a hypocrite!
Now to your specific question
whether or not it is allowed in Islam to seek forgiveness for one’s deceased
parents whom one deems to be (Allah forbid) hypocrites.
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 113:
113 It is not fitting for the Prophet and those who believe that they
should pray for forgiveness for (deceased) pagans, even though they be of kin,
after it is clear to them that they are companions of the Fire.
If one is absolutely certain
that a loved one has died in the state of ‘shirk’ or ‘kufr’, even if that loved
one happened to be one’s own parent, Allah Subhanah guides that it is not
fitting for one who has professed belief that they should supplicate their Lord
for their forgiveness…..for such is the enormity of their crime that the Lord
Most Majestic has deemed it as absolutely unforgiveable in the Hereafter!
As grave as the sin of hypocrisy
is in the Sight of the Lord Most High, this disease of the heart is known to
Allah Subhanah Alone; and it is Allah Subhanah Alone Who will Decide and
Declare with absolute Justice on that Tumultuous Day of Judgment who amongst
those who professed belief were indeed believers and who amongst them were
hypocrites.
Allah Subhanah informed the
Prophet (saws) through inspiration who amongst the people of Madinah were
hypocrites, and Commanded the Prophet (saws) never ever to offer their funeral
prayers, or stand at their graves, or make supplications for them after their
death!
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 9 Surah Taubah verse 84:
And in the future, you
(O Prophet (saws)) should never ever offer (funeral) prayers for anyone from
amongst them (the hypocrites) who dies, nor (even) stand at his grave; for they
have denied Allah and His Messenger and died while they were transgressors!
This command of refraining from
making supplications for the deceased hypocrites was specific and only for the
Messenger of Allah (saws) and not for the believers at large….thus after the
Revelation of the above quoted Aayah of the Glorious Quran whenever one amongst
the hypocrites died in Madinah, the Messenger of Allah (saws) would not attend
the funeral prayer of that deceased hypocrite, but he (saws) asked one amongst his companions to lead the
funeral prayers of the deceased hypocrites.
Thus in light of the guidance of
the Quran and the Sunnah, unless one is absolutely certain that one amongst
their loved one has died in the state of ‘kufr’ or ‘shirk’, one is permitted to
make as many supplications as they wish for them.
Q-2: What is the TAABIR (meaning) of a dream which one
sees quite regulary that he is having physical relations with his mother and
somtimes with his sister and even daughter.
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 9.144 Narrated by Abu
Huraira
Allah's Messenger (saws)
said, "When the Day of Resurrection approaches, the dreams of a true
believer will hardly fail to come true, and a dream of a believer is one of
forty-six parts of Prophetism, and whatever belongs to Prothetism can never be
false." Muhammad bin Sirin said, "But I say this." He said,
"It used to be said, 'There are three types of dreams:
- The reflection of one's thoughts and
experiences one has during wakefulness,
- what is suggested by the Shaytaan to frighten
the dreamer,
- or glad tidings from Allah.
So, if someone has
a dream which he dislikes, he should not tell it to others, but get up and
offer a prayer.'"
If one has experienced an evil
dream, without an iota of a doubt, it is from the accursed Shaytaan. One should immediately take refuge in Allah
from the accursed Shaytaan by declaring ‘Aoodibillahi minas Shaitaan
ar-rajeem’, disregard the dream nor give it any importance or significance, and
abstain from mentioning the dream to anyone; for it will never be able to harm
them.
Sahih Al-Bukhari
Hadith 9.168 Narrated by Abu
Salama
I used to see a
dream which would make me sick till I heard Abu Qatada saying, "I too,
used to see a dream which would make me sick till I heard the Prophet (saws)
saying, "A good dream is from Allah, so if anyone of you saw a dream which
he liked, he should not tell it to anybody except to the one whom he loves, and
if he saw a dream which he disliked, then he should seek refuge with Allah from
its evil and from the evil of the Shaytaan, and spit three times (on his left)
and should not tell it to anybody, for it will not harm him."
Q-3: How to go about the interest which is already
consumed, willingly or unwillingy
Allah says further in
the Holy Quran Chapter 2 Surah Baqarah verse 278:
O Believers! Fear Allah and give up that ‘riba’ which is
still due to you, if you are true
believers. But if you do not do
so, then you are warned of the declaration of war against you
by Allah and His Messenger!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 4 Surah Nisa verse 161:
That they took
‘riba’, although they were forbidden. And that they devoured
men’s substance wrongfully. We have
prepared for those among them who reject faith a grievous punishment (of Hell
Fire)!
Allah Says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale-Imraan verses 130-132:
130 O ye who believe! Devour
not ‘riba’ doubled and multiplied; but fear Allah; that ye may (really)
prosper.
131 Fear the Fire which is prepared for those who reject faith.
132 And obey Allah and the Messenger; that ye may obtain mercy.
One can only imagine the
severity and the gravity of the sin of consuming ‘riba’ by the statement of
Allah Subhanah: ‘…..then you are warned of the declaration of war against you
by Allah and His Messenger!’
If one has willingly or
unwillingly consumed ‘riba’ in their past, their atonement for this grave sin
is sincere repentance and ‘taubah’…..for it is sincere ‘taubah’ alone which
obliterates the major sins of man!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 39 Surah Zumur verses 53-54:
(O Prophet) say: “O My
servants who have wronged their own souls….Do not despair of Allah’s
Mercy! Surely, Allah forgives all sins. He indeed is the All Forgiving, All Merciful. Return to your Lord and submit to Him before
the scourge overtakes you; for then you
may get no help from anywhere.”
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 3 Surah Ale Imraan verse 135-136:
Allah likes such good
people very much, who, if ever they
commit a base deed or wrong their own soul by the commission of a sin, remember Allah instantly, and ask for forgiveness from Him for their
shortcomings. For who, but Allah,
can forgive sins? (And Allah
loves those) who do not knowingly persist in the wrongs they did. These will be rewarded with forgiveness from
Allah, and with Gardens beneath which
canals flow, and they will reside
therein forever! How excellent is the
reward of those who do good deeds!
Allah says in the Holy
Quran Chapter 6 Surah Anaam verse 54:
When those come to you
who believe in Our Signs, say:
"Peace be on you! Your Lord had
inscribed for Himself (the rule of) Mercy.
Verily if any of you did evil in ignorance, and thereafter repented and amended (his
conduct), Lo! He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
2357 Narrated by Abdullah ibn
Mas'ud
Allah's Messenger
(saws) said, "He who repents of a sin is like him who has committed no
sin."
Al-Tirmidhi Hadith
2338 Narrated by Abdullah ibn Umar
Allah's Messenger
(saws) said, "Allah accepts a servant's repentance (taubah) till he gives
up his spirit in death."
