Answer:

Oath in name of Allah

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

Respected brother in Islam, an oath is something one chooses to makes in the Blessed Name of Allah to do or abstain from something for ONESELF….but when one takes an oath for someone else to do or abstain from something, that oath is not valid on the other.

If your wife had taken an oath that she herself will not accept any gift or financial assistance from you, then indeed she would be required to either fulfill her oath, or break her oath by giving a ‘kaffarah’ or atonement.

But because she took an oath restricting you to give her any gifts or financial assistance, you are not obliged to fulfill her invalid oath, nor does she have to give any ‘kaffarah’ or atonement if you do not fulfill her invalid oath.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
