Answer:

Jewelry for woman

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble efforts in the propagation of the Truth. If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the Hell Fire. Ameen.

Your Question: …i would like to ask u is it permissible for a muslim woman to wear bangles, chains etc made of seashells.  what about pearls?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 24 Surah Nur verse 31:

31 And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or the slaves whom their right hands possess, or male servants free of physical needs, or small children who have no sense of the shame of sex; and that they should not strike their feet in order to draw attention to their hidden ornaments. And O ye Believers! Turn ye all together towards Allah that ye may attain Bliss.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 7 Surah Aaraaf verses 31-33:

31 O children of Adam! Adorn yourself with beautiful adornment (or apparel) at every time and place of prayer: eat and drink, but waste not by excess, for Allah loves not the wasters.

32 Say: ‘Who hath forbidden the beautiful (gifts) of Allah which He hath produced for his servants, and the things clean and pure (which He hath provided) for sustenance?, Say: ‘they are in the life of this world for those who believe, (and) purely for them on the Day of Judgment.’ Thus do We explain the Signs in detail for those who understand.

33 Say: ‘The things that my Lord has indeed forbidden are: ‘shameful deeds whether open or secret; sins and trespasses against the Truth or reason; assigning of partners to Allah for which He has given no authority; and saying things about Allah of which ye have no knowledge.’

Allah has bestowed in the inherent nature of the woman to adorn herself with aids of beauty, make-up, jewelry, trinklets, etc.; and there is absolutely no harm or restriction on the believing woman to adorn herself with aids of beauty provided that her beauty is not displayed to non-mehram members of the opposite sex. Islam does not at all forbid or prohibit a believing woman from adorning herself with aids of beauty, provided she is careful not to display her beauty and adornments in front of non-mehram men; but she is at absolute liberty to adorn herself with as much adornments and ornaments as she wishes in front of her mehrams, especially her husband.

Your Question: …i would like to ask u is it permissible for a muslim woman to wear bangles, chains etc made of seashells.  what about pearls?

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 16 Surah Nahl verse 14:

14 It is He Who has made the sea subject that ye may eat thereof flesh that is fresh and tender, and that ye may extract therefrom ornaments to wear; and thou sees the ships therein that plough the waves that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah; and that ye may be grateful.

Allah Says in the Holy Quran Chapter 35 Surah Fatir verse 12:

12 Nor are the two bodies of flowing water alike, the one palatable sweet and pleasant to drink and the other salty and bitter. Yet from each (kind of water) do ye eat flesh, fresh and tender, and ye extract ornaments (from the sea) to wear; and thou sees the ships therein that plough the waves that ye may seek (thus) of the Bounty of Allah; that ye may be grateful.

There is absolutely no restriction regarding the type or kind of ornaments or jewelry a believing woman is permitted to wear in Shariah, be it bangles, or chains, etc. made of sea-shells or pearls, or any other type of precious or semi-precious stones. The believing woman is at absolute liberty to adorn herself with any type of ornaments and jewelry she wills and pleases, provided she pays accurately the ‘zakah’ on her valuable jewelry, and she does not make a display of her adornments in the presence of non-mehram men.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.

Your brother and well wisher in Islam,

Burhan
