Answer:
Missed prayers
illness
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His
help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide,
and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear
witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear
witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His
Messengers.
Allah says in the Holy Quran Chapter 4 Surah
Nisaa verse 103:
Indeed the Salaat is a prescribed duty that
should be performed by the believers at (their) appointed times.
The five obligatory prayers at their due appointed times
are an absolutely obligatory duty upon every Muslim (man or woman), except for:
- A
child who has not yet reached the age of puberty.
- The
menstruating women.
- One
who is insane.
- One
who is unconscious
Your
Question: When are you able to prayer namaz that you have missed ie. due to
illness.
Illness and sickness do not excuse one from missing their
prayers in Shariah; thus as long as one is conscious, regardless of the
severity of one’s illness, one would still be required and obligated to offer
their five obligatory prayers.
Fiqh-us-Sunnah Fiqh 2.103
Topic: The prayer of a person who is ill
(Salatul Mareed)
Whoever has some excuse due to illness and
cannot stand during the obligatory prayers is allowed to pray in a sitting
posture. If he cannot pray in a sitting posture, he may pray while on his side
by making gestures. In such a case, his gestures for ‘sajdah’ should be lower
than those for his ‘ruku'. This
principle is based on Allah's Words: "...And celebrate Allah's praises, standing,
sitting, and lying on your sides.(Ale-Imraan 3:191)"
Imran ibn Hussain says: "I had piles
[hemorrhoids], so I asked the Prophet (saws) about the prayer and he (saws)
said: 'Offer the prayers while standing and if you cannot do so, pray while
sitting, and if you can't do that, then make salah while Iying on your side; and
if you cannot offer salah while lying on your side, then do it while lying on
your back (and making gestures). Allah does not burden a soul, save with what
it can bear." (Related by An-Nasai)
Your
Question: For example if missed a whole days namaz when are you able to make it
up when should you read the namaz and and how do you do the intenion.
Whoever sleeps through or has forgotten to
pray a certain prayer should pray it when he wakes up or remembers the
prayer. Abu Qatadah related that
sleeping through the prayer time was mentioned to the Prophet (saws) and he
said, "There is no negligence in sleep, but negligence occurs while one is
awake. If one of you forgets a prayer, or sleeps through its time, then
he should pray it when he remembers it."
Related by an-Nasa'i and at-Tirmidhi.
Anas related that the Prophet (saws) said,
"Whoever forgets a prayer should pray it when he remembers it, and
there is no expiation for it save that."
Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
If due to severe illness or an absolutely genuine reason,
one happens to miss a whole day’s obligatory prayers, one should offer the five
prayers ‘qada’ or delayed as soon as one remembers it, preferably starting with
the first prayer one missed until one completes the count of one’s missed
prayers.
Thus for example lets say a person last prayed his ‘dhuhr’
prayers, and due to severe illness missed the next five prayers; ie: Asr,
Magrib, Isha, Fajr, and Dhuhr prayers.
At the very first time or opportunity when one realizes that one has
missed one’s five obligatory prayers, it would be best and preferred if one would
offer them ‘qada’ and start with the missed ‘Asr’, then ‘Magrib’, then ‘Isha’,
then ‘Fajr’, and then the ‘Dhuhr’, thus maintaining the chronology of the missed
prayers.
Your
Question: …..how do you do the intenion.
Before starting each of the missed prayers, one would
simply be required to make an intention or ‘neeyah’ in one’s heart that this
prayer is offered ‘qada’ in lieu of the respective missed prayer.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only
due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me
alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is
the Only Source of Strength.
