I realised that what if the dog had touched me and i didnt know about it
Mu' meneen Brothers and Sisters,
As Salaam Aleikum wa Rahmatullahi wa
Barakatuh. (May Allah's Peace, Mercy and Blessings be upon all of you)
One of our brothers/sisters has asked
this question:
Asselamu
Aleykum werahmetulahli weberekatu,
May
Allah have mercy on you and your Jemma`a for what you have done and are still
doing for the Muslim Uma`a. Which is truly a great thing.
My
question for today is, Recently i was on the streets, talking to a man, and
once i left i realised that there was a dog underneath me, however i left the
place and when i got home, i changed my clothes and put it with my clean
clothes, then i realised that what if the dog had touched me and i didnt know
about it, so jst in case the dog touched and i mixed the clothes with the clean
ones and i decide to wash the clothes that i wore, do i have to wash the clean
ones as well since i mixed them up and it touched them, and if i have to i
would like to know the washing directions?
Shukern,
JezakelAllah

Answer:
Dog touched clothes
In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask
for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever
He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that
there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that
Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.
May Allah Subhanah reward you with the best of this world
and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement for our humble
efforts in the propagation of the Truth.
If our humble and modest efforts have helped even one brother or sister
get closer to Allah and His Deen of Truth, then we would consider ourselves
indeed fortunate to have been given this opportunity by the Lord Most Merciful
to serve in His Cause. We hope, beg, and
pray the Merciful Lord accepts our humble and weak efforts, forgives us our
shortcomings, and saves you, us, and all the believers from the torment of the
Hell Fire. Ameen.
Beloved brother, if you were dry and the dog simply
touched a part of your clothes, that touching by itself would neither make you
nor your clothes impure.
But if you were wet, or any wetness from the dog (its
blood, its saliva, its urine, etc.) were to touch you or your clothes, then the
simple washing of the parts of your body or the parts of the clothes where the
impurity might have touched would suffice to make it pure.
If nothing wet from the dog touched your clothes, and you
kept those clothes with your clean clothes…..no harm was done to either the
touched clothes or the clean clothes and both will be considered pure.
If something wet from the dog touched your clothes, and
those wet clothes touched your clean clothes….then you should simply wash the
parts of the clothes where the wetness had touched on your used as well as new
clothes, and that would suffice.
Your Question: …..to
i would like to know the washing directions?
Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 1.173 Narrated by Abu Huraira
Allah's Messenger (saws) said, "If a dog
drinks from the utensil of anyone of you it is essential to wash it (the utensil)
seven times; the first being with dirt (from the earth)”.
Beloved brother, unlike the specific washing which is
required when a dog licks or drinks from an utensil, there is no specific
washing instructions for a dog touching one’s clothes. A simple washing of the soiled clothes would
suffice to cleanse it of its impurity.
Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to
Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only
Source of Strength.
Your brother and
well wisher in Islam,
Burhan
