One of our brothers/sisters has asked this question:

As Salam Alai Kum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh,Dear Brother in Islam Kindly let me know what to do with clothes that are soiled with bird droppings?Can we pray in them or they are to be washed properly or merely pouring water over the area will suffice.

Answer:

Clothes with bird droppings pure

In the name of Allah, We praise Him, seek His help and ask for His forgiveness. Whoever Allah guides none can misguide, and whoever He allows to fall astray, none can guide them aright. We bear witness that there is none worthy of worship but Allah Alone, and we bear witness that Muhammad (saws) is His slave-servant and the seal of His Messengers.

The vast majority of the scholars and jurists in Islam are of the opinion that the dropping of a halaal bird is not impure, and the prayer of one on whose clothes a bird-dropping has touched would be absolutely valid and acceptable.

If one simply scrapes the bird-dropping from one’s clothes, or even washes or pours water over the area where a bird dropping is found would more than suffice.

Whatever written of Truth and benefit is only due to Allah’s Assistance and Guidance, and whatever of error is of me alone. Allah Alone Knows Best and He is the Only Source of Strength.
